For Reena....
Summer Blue never in her wildest dreams thought that her parents could ever be right. They didn't understand what it meant to be a kid anymore. They didn't even own an iPod!
It happened. It really happened. Her mother always said if she continued to wish them away, one day, she'd get her wish.
Her parents were gone.
The last thing Summer remembered, was arguing with her mother...
"Summer! Clean up your room young lady!"
"Maaaaa! I cleaned it last week!"
"I'm not arguing with you. You either clean your room, or forget about going to Cathy's party tomorrow afternoon."
"That's not fair! It's my room!"
"It's my house. When you get a job and pay the bills, then you can have it your way! Until that happens...you are ten, and you will do as I say," her mother yelled.
"I wish you would just disappear!" Summer stomped off.
"Be careful what you wish for; it just might happen! Now, clean your room!"
Summer plopped down on her bed and pouted. She wished with all her heart, that her parents would disappear. No more: wash the dishes! Take the garbage out! Be nice to your baby brother! Or, clean your room!
Summer laid back.
Who died and made them boss anyway? Children had rights...didn't they?
She continued sulking, until she fell asleep...
Summer awoke the next day. Stretching and yawning, she looked around her room. It was still messy. She was definitely not going to Cathy's party now.
"I'm in trouble. Maybe I could beg Mom for another chance. Or, get Dad to help me out." Summer went to look for her parents.
"Mom? Dad?" she said walking through the house. "Hey. Where is everybody?"
There was always some noise or something. Mom always had her eighty's music on. It was Saturday; Dad would be in the garage, messing with his motorcycle. However, the house was eerily quiet.
Summer searched the entire house. The kitchen, basement, den, her parents room, her baby brother's room, and even the garage. Nothing. Fear began to rise in the pit of her stomach. She ran frantically through the house again; but there was no one there but her.
Her hands shaking, her palms sweaty, and her heart racing fast, Summer called out, "C'mon Mom! Dad! This isn't funny anymore!" Summer felt a knot form in her stomach. Her parents were nowhere to be found. They wouldn't leave without taking her. Summer sat on the bottom step. Resting her head on her lap, she started sobbing.
An hour had passed. Summer decided to call her grandparents. There was no answer. She called her best friend Cathy. No answer. Summer had no idea what else to do. If she called the police, they probably wouldn't believe her. She looked out the window, too scared to leave the house. It was bizarre. The streets were empty. No cars whizzing by. No kids playing games. Summer didn't know what to do.
A knock at the door startled her...

Great story.
Lol I knew pretty much what was going to happen when she verbalized her wish to her mother.
I could feel the emptyness and I could hear the ghostly silence. But Ruthe you threw me for a loop with the knock on the door.
I am glad I wasn't alone reading this and heard a knock on my door, because my friend I most likely would jump out of my skin.
Who was that anyway and why? Inquiring minds want to know.
I could have a lot of fun with this letting my imagination run amok.
Great job Ruthe and thank you.
Heres a 10 pounder for you
God bless
I gave it a 10!
Thank you Kacie. I love honest feedback and critique. It's good when another pair of eyes can catch what we've missed!
