Okay, the following three groupings of shrub photos are plants in my yard. They came with the house and I imagine were planted at least 15 years ago. I have no clue what they are.
I need help from you garden, landscaping and yard buffs in identifying what they are so that Victoria can purchse them if she decides she likes any of them.
Type One...

Type Two...

Type Three...

In your comment, please say the type # and the name you think this shrub is. Thanks for any help you can offer!

That type 3 is really pretty though - I love plants with variegated leaves. I will be interested to know what it is.
But............
Type one does appear to be some sort of holly type bush. At least the leaves look very much like one of the two types of holly we have planted around the house. BUT....if it doesn't have berries then it's probably not, huh. Holly always has berries doesn't it?
Type two!!! That is something we actually have planted on the other side of the front porch, but darnit I have no idea what it was. I need to keep those little things that come inside the pot when you buy stuff so I can remember what it is I bought. In fact, I just went to check and I actually did save the thing that came with the first ones we bought. We bought them two years ago. They're Helleri Holly. I just bought another one this last trip to Home Depot I made (last week). It looks nearly identical to the Helleri Holly but it's something else. I'll check next trip I make to the H.D. and let you know. Anyway, type 2 looks like one of either of those.
Type 3 I have no idea about but it's pretty and I'm interested in it. I hope someone can tell you what it is. How big is it? I'm curious as to how big it appears to grow. The area in front of the house where I'm planning on planting the 7 shrubs is a place where I don't want anything taller than about 4 feet probabably. I put more of those solar lights there and spaced them out five feet apart. The 7 shrubs are going in between each solar light so they probably should spread out more than about 3 to 4 feet.
Now that Gather is screwed I am relying more and more on my groups to show me stuff.
Thanks for trying Katherine.

It may not be the kalediscope varitey, but it is an abelia~
Victoria, mine is not embarassing to me. It's actually hystericaly funny. I just feel people will disconnect from me left and right if I tell the story.
They are pretty gorgeous. I don;t know much about it but this gave me lots of info.I don't know their names so...
My guesses:
2- Boxwood
3- Euonymous (sp?)
that at least some species of holly have a male and female, so the female holly plants are the ones with berries. I don't know if that's true of all holly plants or not. I would recommend taking your photos to the extension service in your area, or even a nursery where you shop any way. They will probably be of the most help to you. Let us know what you find out!
