This is basically a continuation from the article I posted yesterday.
I went to Home Depot yesterday afternoon, armed with about $30 in gift cards. I ended up spending $36. So I actually now have a total of $6-$7 of my cash invested into this year's plantings. Everything else has been funded by Gather.
HD had the 4" annuals on sale for $.75 so I purchased 10. This mix included 4 zinnia, 2 impatens and 4 of the dusty miller, which was recommended as a rabbit deterant. I also got a small hydrangeia, a large zinnia, and two large clusters of gazanias (one of my favorites).
I was going to wait till today to plant them all, but at about 6:30 last night I ended up planting everything. I also dug-up and repotted the dying calladium.

Above is the dying calladium in temporary pots. These were a pain to dig up.
The following photos are the finished results.

Above is the newly planted bed that was empty in yesterday's essay.

This is the lower driveway-side bed where I added the dusty miller. Let's hope it helps with the bunnies. I also plan to sprinkle the pepper flakes around all plantings later today.

This is the upper bed where the calladiums were removed. I added two small hasta in their place.

This is a pot planter that I keep at the bottom of the front porch steps.

This is not new, but wanted to show my stone turtle that resides under the Bradford Pear tree in the side yard.
With the newest bed I planted yesterday, there is some room for a few more plants. I'm going to wait to see what does well and then purchase more of that type. I also need to wait till the next Home Depot gift card arrives anyway. I cashed in for another $25 card yesterday afternoon.

I hope you've had a good week, Marianne. I'm still getting used to the new gather system and I've been distracted by my graduate school course. My final paper is due Sunday, so send up a prayer for me if you think about it!
I am excited to finish doing the big flower bed. I am filling in more clematis to climb the deck railings, In front of those I have more lilies, bleeding hearts and other pretty flowering plants and then around the front of the bed I am putting columbine and balloon flowers!
Out front around the trees we are doing forget me nots, columbine, and pansies
I love flowers! In the side flower beds I have lilies and butterfly weed and phlox in the bigger one and "goblins" and painted daisies and morning glories in the two smaller ones! My husband also has lilies, roses and clematis out front along the driveway and then wrapping up around our lampost. As each year goes by and the stuff we add keeps comign back things aer becoming more andmore beautiful and I am extremely excited!
