Who Would Win?

A couple days ago, I was chatting with my children over dinner. I always like to get them talking so I can really know who they are and what's in their little hearts. Superheros are big around our house so I asked my four year old son Gideon, "Who would win a fight, Batman or Spiderman?"

Gideon looked at me with concern and replied, "The bad guys."

As I thought about his answer, it made perfect sense. If the good guys were fighting with each other, there would be no one to stop the bad guys and they would ultimately win. Life lessons over meatloaf, taught by a preschooler. I love being a mom.

A child once asked his parents after church who 'Andy' was and if he was a friend or relative of Jesus.

Andy? There's no Andy in the Bible.

Gideon is wise beyond his years. Maybe we should elect him president. I think he would do a much better job than those that are running. LOL. Seriously. It is children like Gideon that proves to me that our future can still be in good hands. Gideons is one of them. God Bless You and Gideon.

Kacie, there is no person who is unbroken. ;) And I'm for capitol punishment so your arguement doesn't work with me. As far as I'm concerned, both those characters are good guys. They protect the innocent.

Hmm this simple statement from a child has taken a turn. To Kacie and Lacey, I'd say no one is broken. In Kacies George Lucas ending I'd say Batman rediscovers his loving nature instead of being fixed some how.

As for the argument Spiderman vs Batman what if using violence as the first technique to solve a problem wasn't allowed?

Putting the philosophical dissection of superheros aside (completely baffled at how it came to that), this is really a sweet and poignant little vignette. You must be so proud to have such a thoughtful little boy.

How fascinating. Your son wasn't distracted by the fancy colors, suits, and abilities. He saw right to the heart of the matter (adults, take a lesson) and realized that often we are burdened by the context of a situation and don't see the most obvious of lessons. I agree with many: don't let him grow up.

I wish I could keep him little. I tell him frequently to stop getting bigger! lol! He doesn't appear to be listening and will be starting kindergarten this fall.
