I have wanted to write this article for a while, and I am finally getting around to it. As many of you know, I have 3 indoor-only cats. All 3 have come into my home as rescues. Here is a little of their story.
In May of 2005 I worked for a contractor. His girlfriend got 3 little kittens from a lady in her neighborhood.
I could tell right away that the kittens were not yet old enough to be away from their mommy. They were a week or two away from being old enough (which I think led to their tendency to drool and knead). The girlfriend kept 2 kittens for her kids and left one tiny little striped baby there for him. He put the tiny kitten in the back yard with NO FOOD and NO WATER. I went to the pet store on my lunch break THAT DAY and bought a little can of kitten food and gave the kitten some water. I told him that he needed to get the proper stuff for the adorable little baby on his way in that evening. The next morning, there was still no food for the baby. I brought the adorable little monster into the office (his office was attached to his house). He was so cute and curious! Needless to say...I was quite upset with my boss. I called him and told him that I was just going to take the kitten home with me, because I was worried about it surviving. This one was the runt, and I knew that it needed to get all the nourishment it could.
So, I brought him home and got him all the things he needed! He proceeded to be named Riddick...because he was a fury when he was little! A little ankle biter! haha I brought him home in the middle of May. He was so tiny. It is hard to imagine that he has grown up to be the 18 pound monster that he is now! :-)

Thanks so much Val! I was just as lucky to find him!
Larry, I look forward to that! Let me know when you do post it!
I'm glad you were able to rescue Riddick. He's such a cuttie. By your description, he's grown up healthy. It's nice that he' got a safe environment where he can roam freely in search of ankles to bite!
All my cats have been indoor cats. There's too many scary things out in the big world.
I will get the stories posted for my Tombs and my Kyra soon, I promise. :-)
Apricot was found wandering along the busiest street in town. She will be six in September.
Lord knows what she went through before we met. The vet said she'd had one litter of kittens as a stray, so I figure the poor kid got dumped.
She was in heat when he spayed her.
The fools lost out on one sweet cat.

Thanks so much for posting this to
my group for all things to do with nature, animals, and pets!.
Sue, thank you for your kind words. I can not stand to see any animal mistreated, and if I had the money....I would probably have more babies! haha
Thank you F. Jeanette!
Nana, thank you so much! He sure acts grateful...especially when it is time for his "kitty crack" haha that would be his Greenies treats!! He begs and acts so cute for those! :-)
Thank you for posting to ~::Photographic Edge::~
Thanks for posting this to Graphic and Original Art
Hopefully at eighteen pounds he's not still an ankle biter. (ouch)
Sandy, I have photos posted that are current! He is HUGE now. :-) But still adorable! hehe
Ron...your shelter cat DOES own you! haha. I am owned by all 3 of my monsters. I am just a subservient human in my house. They are Alpha...I am Omega! haha
Ramona, I will certainly check your story out! I look forward to it!
Thanks so much to everyone for stopping in. I will let you all know as soon as I post the next installment....TOMBS! :-)
Wow 18lbs! That's really big. I currently have three cats. It would of been four had Misha lived, but it's three now. All rescues too.
Janet, I usually joke that he is bigger than a lot of dogs in my neighborhood. haha
Thank you Patty. You are quite right...I am glad that I do not work for that man anymore. It was not long after I rescued Tombs from him that I left! More on that in the story about Tombs. :-)
Thank you JoAnn!

Gayle, Thank you and I will send you a notice when I get the story of Tombs ready.
Jeanie, I have some more recent shots in my images, but I will post current shots of all of my babies with the rest of the installments. :-)
Wanda, you are quite right.
Thank you Danyale.
Donna, you are a wonderful person for rescuing the 3 kittens. I am glad that you took the time to find a home for the boy, and I completely understand that they became your babies! :-)
Yes, Cori, I did. You will find that I took charge of Tombs as well. It is a heartbreaking story from the same people. (Tombs is Riddick's brother/littermate).
LOL, ED I promise not to let your birdie hear that you complimented a cat. :-) Thanks!
Yes, Randee...18 pounds. I tell him he is part mountain lion and part puppy all the time. haha I even call him Puppy Cat at times. :-) He does not mind!
Thanks so much Amanda!
Riddick certainly shows his appreciation. He is very sweet. Luckily, at 18 pounds, he does not like to be held, haha but he sure likes to cuddle up next to me and knead and drool. He also licks the sheets on my bed when he is cuddling me. haha he is silly!
Betsy, as much as I would LOVE to have more...I honestly can not afford any more right now. I do hope you find wonderful loving homes for them.
I am glad that you all enjoyed the story of my precious Riddick!
Now to part 2.
Have a great gather day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you Debra
Glome, did you find his pictures??
I have to get some more posted.

U wishing you laughter
