WARNING: PHOTO OVERLOAD.
Orr Park in Montevallo, Alabama is definitely something to see. This small little college community prides itself on its history and the beauty of the surrounding area.
Last weekend my daughter and I took a day to wander around and do some geocaching, which took us to Orr Park where there are at least three caches. One of the things that I enjoy most about geocaching is not just about finding the caches, or whatever "treasure" you might find hidden in those little boxes in the woods, but about the many wonderful places you discover along the way.
Orr Park is one of them. Several years ago cedar trees in the park started dying and the city was planning to cut them down. Instead, a local artist named Tim Tingle went into the park and created a wooden wonderland in the midst of this meandering little park. There is no way for me to describe it. But I did take some photos. So walk with me and see what I discovered......

My lovely caching partner.

Fish swallowing a snake. Very bizzare.

Looks a bit stoned, doesn't he?

I kept waiting for this fellow to start talking to me.

Kawliga, looking for his Indian Maid.

This, of course, is not a carving. This is my lovely and wonderful baby girl.
There were many more carvings in other areas of the park that I didn't even capture. If you ever have time to detour off the interstate and meander through this park, I promise you'll leave there smiling.

Hi to your Baby Girl
Cool park. Looks so warm and sunny.... A nice contrast to today in Chicago.
what a great way to turn what would have been destroyed into art.
thanks for sharing these with us. i would never have known if you hadn't
Lainie, it was warm, but not unbearably so. We had a lot of fun in the little park - even got on the swings!
CC if you ever get this way you should definitely detour through and see them for yourself.
