"The same subject seen from a different angle makes a powerful and interesting study, so varied that I think I could be busy for months without moving from one spot and merely leaning sometimes more to the right and sometimes more to the left."
~Cezanne~
The other day when Faith and I were at Bellingrath Gardens I fell in love with the red Oriental bridge that crossed a meandering stream. Moving around from one side to another I clicked away taking one image after another. Coming home and downloading them on Faith's computer I was thrilled with the study. Isn't life like the Oriental Bridge in that one cannot really understand a subject since it all depends on the perspective you bring to it?

Is not Gather like the Oriental bridge? The other day Tom Gerace shared his vision of what he believed Gather is and will be. We, in turn, coming from different perspectives shared our ideas. Not knowing the whole picture, should we not give Tom and his Team the chance over the next few months to show us before bolting to another site? As an individual, I am willing to accept the compromise that was worked out the other day. I am staying on Gather...I am committed to a site that allowed me to discover talents I knew not that I had and to the many connections I have made over the past year.

I love this study in perspective. Plus I too love the bridge. Keep on trucking, My talented one
The Papa, who has trouble joining Gather. (This comment NOT posted by elizabeth e.)
Bob, great article. I love the bridge. I had to chuckle at the Cezanne quote, though. It's definitely appropriate, but that bridge is so much more a Monet subject!
Someday we will fix you up on Gather...you just need to remember your password!
As for being my Gardener and Zookeeper...I'm glad you are taking your two jobs seriously while I am wandering down South. Having a great time....will see you tomorrow night.
I love your new icon...just discovered it earlier today when I went to mmy group Angels on Our Pillow. I showed it to Faith.
Yes, definitely a Monet subject....but couldn't find a quote from him. Did find one from Walter Inglis Anderson, one of Faith's favorite artist...his museum is over in Ocean Springs, Mississippi....we went there yesterday.
"A single image is inexhaustible and man is a wasteful fool"
That bridge has something and you captured it to perfection. I was stunned about the reflection shot turning the bridge into a whole - that illusion we often chase.
Anyway, I too immediately thought of Monet, but the Cezanne quote fits. I will return to look at those images again they are magical.:) I couldn't have started my day with a better article - I hope Tom takes note of your comments.
It was just staring me in the face...it really looked "real" the round, red circle.
The Bellingrath Gardens have at least six or seven different areas...the Oriental Garden has several wonderful pieces that I kept photographing from different angles.

Today I saw alligators....imagine alligators....and then we went to a pretty little town called Fairhope right on the Gulf...took a ton of pictures...as yet I don't know what I'm going to do with them.
Thanks Kathryn for featuring me in Triple Name Club.
BTW: Do you mean to say, Bob, that the foul (but currently sleeping beast) Hawthorne, isn't going to jump off the oriental bridge to make a splash when it awakes ... if in a foul mood?
I think you are probably right...The Zoo and the Garden can be a bit much for one person.
As for Hawthorne....I am mildly optomistic that Tom heard our concerns....I'm hoping because I've gotten quite a few emails over the last week that some of my closest contacts are leaving. Talking with Faith about the whole thing we agreed that we both appreciated all that we have gained from being Gatherites...and we don't want to lose contact with the friends we have made.
I especially like the shot of the whole bridge reflected.
Thanks for posting to All Photo Essays Here @ allphotoessays.gather.com!
Anyway, I could try to leave here, but really I just can't.
Anyway, that is an intriguing bridge, albeit impractical.

This was gorgeous Bob - thanks - I absolutely love the red - remind me of red lacquered plates and things.
