Tigger update 4-23-08

I took Tigger for his blood test today.  One of the panels was better but the toxins in his liver are still way too high.  That one panel being better is why he started eating but he needs to get a lot more nutrition in him to help get rid of the toxins.  He has lost weight and he is still very jaundiced too.  If I don't think he has eaten enough I need to go ahead and force feed.  His fluids only have to be done once a day instead of twice now and I need to figure out a way to get the pills down.

So, he is better but still seriously ill.

Please pray he eats more!
and that I can get those pills down him!!

I take him back to the vet to get checked on Monday.

OH MY, I don't know what I would do if Tom Tom (AKA Tommy) were to become ill right now, I love him dearly the sad part about it, was that my Mother in Law gave him to me for a Christmas present, and then she died April 2007, and I really didn't want him I already had 2 dogs, but then I fell in love with him, and I love him dearly, so in a matter of speaking I know where you are coming from, all I can actually say is hang in there, and I know the love of a pet.

You can purchase a 'pill-er' at vets and pet stores. This is a long pencil-like device that you fit the pill into and then shoot it into the back of the cat's mouth then hold the mouth closed until the cat swallows. Or you can smash the pill and hide the chunks in a piece of whatever kind of food that the cat likes. I went through many alternatives before finding just the right one once. Different strokes for different cats (I had several). You just gotta find the right method and it is very worrisome while trying to do so, I know.

I do hope Tigger keeps coming along. Good luck with everything.

I'm sure this is consuming a lot of your time and worry. I know it would be so for me.

Hope things continue to improve for Tigger.
I am glad for the little bit of good news regarding Tigger, that is a good start. I hope he continues to improve - please keep up the updates as I look for them!
Hopefully since Tigger will need less of the fluids done - maybe he will actually drink some water himself~

It's so hard when our pets are sick. Merri started limping the other day and I fretted until she began walking more normally and I knew she was probably going to be okay...

Have you tried giving him human baby food, the meat variety? When my (RB) kitty Roo who was hypothyroid wouldn't eat, I warm up some baby food and she'd eat that, just make sure there is nothing in the ingredients but meat and water.

Diane has a good idea. My cats LOVE meat baby food (they don't like the beef, but like chicken and turkey). Warm it in the microwave a little.
