Summer Memories - What's Your Favorite?

The only thing more exciting to a child than Christmas is Summer vacation! Presents and candy are great, but NOTHING beats freedom from homework and tests. In just a matter of weeks, kids everywhere will be trading in their notebooks and backpacks for baseball gloves and lemonade stands. I always smile when I remember one summer when my sister and I spent weeks planning our very own neighborhood carnival. We had games, prizes and even refreshments. I don't remember making much money, but I do remember having a blast.

I always remember a family vacation taken to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Park. We were lucky enough to have a travel trailer and we really enjoyed camping, having campfires, etc.

I lived out of town near the foothill of a small town in montana. I recall eagerly waiting for the snow to melt enough that I could go exploring the hills, finding places that I hadn't found before, caves in the rock walls and walking over a ridge into a heard of deer.

Playing with the neighbor kids out front, talking with my neighbors on the porches, sitting with my mom on the glider or the swing and talking or reading during the day and after dinner.

I think it was the summer when I was 5 years old (just a few years ago ;-D ), and my Mom and Dad took me to Wildwood, New Jersey for a week. You know how when you're a child, time seems endless, and so it was with this vacation. It was just a delightful time, where we spent time on the beach, where I met new kids my age and exchanged shells and sand crabs with one another...my parents and I would go to movies at theaters on the boardwalk, going to a neat little park with fun rides, and best of all, getting to wear my favorite dress with pretty colored rhinestones in it. It was a very good summer.
