Tigger update 4-20-08 - Tigger ate by himself

My son Z was eating some orange sherbet of all things and Tigger was sitting next to him on the sofa.
All of a sudden Tigger leaned in and sniffed and then licked the sherbet!  I was so excited to hear this!
Tigger hasn't wanted to taste anything on his own for about 2 weeks now.  When I heard this I got Tigger another half a scoop and he ate it all!!
I was so elated! 
I know that is not a good food but it whetted his appetite enough for him to eat!!
This is a great sign !
They told me he wouldn't start eating on his own unless his liver is better so I am hoping this is a sign that it is true.  The blood test this week will tell.
Next I gave him some pumpkin puree(online I read this was good for all kitty stomach problems) and mixed that with some canned food and kitten milk powder.  He ate it ravenously as if he had had no food at all in days and days!!  It was so good to see him like this!
My dh was at Walmart and I told him on the phone to buy some different kinds of kitten food to temp him to eat more.
I put 1/4 of it in a bowl for him and he ate every bite and licked the bowl!
I'm still not getting pills down him well but I am not going to force feed him when he is eating himself.
I will just keep offering food to him.
I am going to keep doing the fluids under the skin until I see him actually drinking water himself or the vet tells me to quit.
I am so relieved.  I know I won't know for sure where he is at until the blood work is done but I lost a lot of the load of stress this has been on me when I saw him eat.
I am going to stay on top of this and keep offering.
