I met this boy named Nigel who was lost and couldn't see.
He was older than his years and hardened with street smarts.
I cannot say we were truly friends, because I hadn't known him long.
One night we were pulling kp - Kitchen duty, preparing food for the next day for everyone and he asked me if he could take a short nap, because he was totally exhausted.
He was the head cook, yet we were all students.
For over two hours I did my thing alone and getting a bit annoyed at Nigels long absence.
I decided I had better go and check up and make sure he didn't oversleep.
I ran down to his room at the other side of the court yard.
His door was ajar and he was sitting on his bed with a nine milimeter hand gun in his mouth and his brain splattered against the wall.
Many of us went to his funeral and were enlightened and learned the story of this disturbed kids
history.
It was years after this incident that I had the honor of sharing my time with a new German Sheperd puppy.
I delivered him and he was the only male and I heard the word Nigel and it became his name.
Since that time I have seen people come and go so many so fast and so up close and personal as to
make a person wonder what is it all about -and even other Nigels have come and gone.
Even I was to learn john Lennon had written a poem" My Dog Nigel, but that is only a coincidence.
So this makes me qualified to deal on the highest levels the subject of this my group.
Death & Dying
Yes we are all aware that life is terminable- No one gets out of here alive.
How many of you have faced your own mortality?
Obviously the longer you are here the more you will see -that is unless you are blind.
How are we dealing with this subject?
Why do we feel that we have to be taken instead of like the Native Americans taking back the control of our existance.
How ignorant of us to see it in a noble sense in one way and then seeing it as inexcusable in another.
How many of us so stongly believes in miracles -that we hang on to-till other people have to keep you alive artifically?
Cultures, beliefs, religions build bridges of words that help you to take your mind to a sense of security when in fact it is just the reflection of reality!
Surrender is something all of us practice daily- when we close our eyes and drift off to sleep we can so easily never wake up and so this is the same as passing away.
So I will continue writing directly about this subject and if you enjoy please let me know and if you don't then there is a variety of artistic creation for you to wander through from my archives or through the mother site of Gather.
This is a great oppportunity to communicate on a higher level with people who truly have no invested interest other than exploring our spirituality.
Welcome to all my new friends who finds me here.
So any of you- got any storys like this?
Sorry ,but -Please stay within the subject matter of the group or you will be deleted.
Thank you for your time.
My Death & Dying group here on gather with yours truly as the official host.
