We saw The Bucket List yesterday, with Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson. I liked it, mainly because it was a pleasure to watch those two. However, it was sheerly their charisma, really, and talent that carried the movie. I kept thinking that if I found out I had 6 months to a year to live, there is no way I would end up sharing a room with a fabulously wealthy, equally sick roommate who would take around the world to do all the things I ever wanted to do. No, I would be battling the insurance companies just to get treatment and struggling to survive. Also, I would not go off and leave my loving family, either, not even for exotic adventures. But if you can suspend your disbelief, the story is touching, often funny, and the characters are likable. Don't expect innovation and be prepared for cliches, but Freeman and Nicholson are definitely worth the cost of the movie. (Of course, in our case, we saw it at the dollar theatre. Would I have felt the same at $9 a ticket? I'm not sure.)
