Nim's island : short review

 For those that don't know. My niece works at the theater. So, we can see movies for free when she is working and it is called in advance.

Yesterday I was fortune enough to take my kids, niece and sister in law to go see Nim's Island. We got our soft drinks and popcorn than went and sat down in our seats.

The movie was a really good movie. I think it is one that all ages can see. it is about a little girl and her father who lives on an island by themselves. Her father goes off to search for something as he is a scientist. While he is gone a bad storm hits.

There is Internet access on the island. The father receives an email. The little girl is responding back and fourth with a well known book author. One of her favorites. The father doesn't come back when he was suppose to. The little girl gets scared. She writes to the author and tells them she needs help and is all alone.

The author is actually a woman. Whom everything thinks is adventurous man that is scared of nothing. But really she is a woman who is scared of everything. So, scared she hasn't left her home in 16 weeks. But when she receives this message from the little girl. She decided to go find her.

It is really comical watching this woman who is scared of everything as she travels to find this island to save the little girl. The woman is being played by Jodie Foster. She does a really good playing her role. Plus she is my favorite movie actress of all time. That's why I choose to see this movie.

In the mean time, a cruise ship has found the island. They set dock and allow the people to play and swim on the beach. The little girl is trying her best to scare these people away. As it is her island, a special island that no one else is suppose to be there. Her group of wildlife friends help her in trying to get rid of the cruise ship people. First it is the seal...blowing stinky bubble farts. This does not deter the people. They keep coming. So, next up it is the lizards of the island. She puts them in a thing she create and flings them through the sky. The beach goers are going crazy thing the lizards can fly. But they have some very resourceful members on board who uses the method of fire at the end of stick to scare the lizards off.

By this time, a little boy sees the little girl and follows her. She climbs up a mountain and starts a fire to look like the volcano is erupting to try and scare the people away.

Does the author reach the island? Does the father ever make it back? Does the cruise people get scared of the island? If you want to find the answers. Than I suggest you go see the movie for yourself. Trust me, you won't be sorry.
