I believe the red flowers are called fairy dusters. I have them in my backyard in AZ. I find it interesting that you called the crested saguaro deformed. I know that is what the rare species basically is, but so used to calling them crested.

Absolutely gorgeous photos showing the beauty here. I note that the saguaro with the crest is at one of the arms, which I have never seen before. It has always been at the top, what few I do come across; and I spend quite a lot of time out there in the sticks, ha ha.

I'm lovin' these photos, Nanina! We saw some strange little cactus plants when we were over at Myrtle Beach State Park over the weekend (and I didn't even know they HAD wild cactus plants here!!!) and I am really wishing I had taken some photos of them now after viewing this, although those ones weren't blooming like these ones I don't think. The captures you got are amazing.
