Wasn't Carter denied assurances of safety for entering Gaza, or something? I have to question why Carter wants to involve himself in yet more middle eastern terrorism madness. But heck, maybe Pelosi wants this to happen, or maybe the current administration called on Carter to travel and try to broker a deal. He has to parrot what the captors demand. Maybe he would say that there were no demands placed upon him.
The desire for peaceful coexistence seems to be obvious to my way of thinking. Hamas, in Gaza, seems to be the group of palestinians who do not wish for coexistence.
Carter: Gaza residents 'starving to death' Former US president defends meetings with Hamas terrorists, tells university students in Egypt sanctions imposed on Gaza Strip are 'criminal atrocity' after meeting in private with Hamas leaders. 'For every Israeli killed,' says Carter, 'between 30 to 40 Palestinians are killed because of the extreme military capability of Israel' News agencies Published: 04.18.08, 00:27

Whether Carter's approach to conflict resolution is considered by the Israeli government as appropriate or defeatist, no one can take away from the former U.S. president his international standing, nor the fact that he brought Israel and Egypt to a signed peace that has since held. Carter's method, which says that it is necessary to talk with every one, has still not proven to be any less successful than the method that calls for boycotts and air strikes. In terms of results, at the end of the day, Carter beats out any of those who ostracize him.
