Some thoughts on the Clinton Obama debate

I'll chuckle with you and wonder how her campaign will handle her charges that Obama is not electable now that she has said he is on TV. Will her behind the scenes approach change now?

You can bet the family farm on the Clinton Enemy list being real & often added to....! Hopefully I am on that list....!

Stephanopoulos was part of the 1st Clinton term, but there were no tears at his leaving on either side. He is the anchor of the Sunday AM This Week on ABC, so he would participatee in the debates. It's not like he gave her any speical favours.

This debate certainly gave some good soundbites. Let's see if they are promises kept.

ABC lost. McCain won.

I believe your reference to Clinton's complaint are misplaced. It was not the Obama was allowed to answer questions first...here was the substance of Clinton's complaint in that Feb debate:

SEN. HILLARY CLINTON: Well, can I just point out that, in the last several debates, I seem to get the first question all the time. And I don't mind. You know, I'll be happy to field them, but I do find it curious. And if anybody saw Saturday Night Live, you know, maybe we should ask Barack if he's comfortable and needs another pillow. I just find it kind of curious that I keep getting the first question on all of these issues. But I'm happy to answer it.

I think you are incorrect in your article on the questions past part. I believe Clinton complained that she was always being asked "first", giving Obama time to think and respond in a manner built on her response; instead of going cold turkey with them so to say.

George Stephanopolous is a wonderful man. I think he should run for president. I don't care what party he's with. He like so many are disillusioned with the Clintons. I can't wait for Tuesday. Also, you're featured on Gatherers Gallery.

she complained about it and during the very same debate she jumped at the Medvedev question, which was a toss up. Check the videos. In debates you want to answer first making the other candidate look like he repeats, which was what it looked like since they have very similar positions.

Anyways, debate was the worse ever. If they going to debate who you knew that was a radical in the 60s, what will happen about the issues?

Clinton is running on 35 years of making change. If they ask to Obama about a guy who did things when Obama was 8, they should ask Clinton about her connection to Black Panther Murderers trial. That was in 1977, well within the umbrella.

They should ask her about letting a (alleged) rapist of a 12 year old walk.

They should ask her about sitting on a board (WalMart) that is accused of mistreating women and unions, calling unions "blood sucking ..." on tape while she was serving on the board, since now she is pro union and seeks their endorsements.

Not saying any of this is true but they are asking questions right. She keeps saying people know about all this, not true. Her Black Panther connection has been ignored. Let's ask the questions. When she is done with that, we can start with the library donors, the 15 million dollars from Dubbai, and Alibaba.com which collaborate with the Chinese to persecute the Tibetans.

Jared, I see you have been listening to that little weasel, Dick Morris, ugh is he revolting! This "black panther" connection is tenuous at best, considering she was a law student, and the case involving the panthers was, from what I understand, a case study for her. In any event, if you want to compare the candidates intimate involvement with terrorists, go right ahead, just helps McCain!

You must be joking about the Mideast $ involvement. Good grief they have substantial investments all over our country, the list would be too long--you have nothing here.

Obama's problem is cumulative, this once "transcendental" candidate now has a very disturbing and shady past. Wright, Ayers and his condescending attitude towards the heartland, will definitely sink him in the general election. Why would America take a chance on this candidate for president? Let's see how he progresses in the senate first, let's see what type of legislation he puts forth, then we can decide in four years if we want him as president.

My favorite political quote/anecdote on this. Johnson asked an aide to spread rumors that his opponent was a pig fucker. Aide responded, 'we know that's not true'. And he replied 'I know, we want to make him deny it'.

That's what the Clintons are doing. And that's what any claim on Clinton and Black Panther does. Make her say it's not true. When she does, only then, will some (not so bright) believe it.

MidEast money and all that. Let them deny it, prove it's all clean. Bring the charges, it's their job to deny just like it is Obama's to show that his relationship with people who did bad things when he was 8 years old, does not affect his views.

I don't put weight in any of this stuff. All I am saying is you want to bring baseless charges, do it on both sides.

Dick Morris, have not read him lately. All I know is he is an important assets to the GOP because he was very very close to the Clintons. He's got a lot of materials he is sitting on, just in case she wins.

There is a great quote from Saul Bellow about the virtues of living in the Midwest. He noted that fashions most often originate on the coasts and by the time they reach the heartland, they are threadbare and we can see through them.

I think of this when I think of Barak Obama.

On the subject of Arab money, the Arabs rule the world right now because Americans just can't get off the oil addiction. I would be surprised to find an area where they haven't invested money--I don't think there is anything really there that would be shocking to Americans given the Arabs economic clout.

How can you debate a comedy piece. I guess the author is from the stewart/colbert school of "news reporting."

I do get a kick out of the former members of the Clinton administration. They appear to be "shocked" at the negative tone the Clinton campaign has taken. I guess it's different when your own party is on the receiving end of nasty muckraking, and not those "right wing conspirators"

My opinion is that I will Vote Democratic in November 2008. Republicans will vote Republican. The undecided will make their choice. I do not want to see another fear mongering right wing puppet as president. Worry and fear about the economy, worry and fear about the terrorists. I am not going to act out of fear of the Boogie Man. Young Voters like Democrats, and Baby Boomers(40-60) like Democrats. Another ?Thread here called Obama the Teflon Kid. I just slung some mud too. I will just leave it there. I like obama, and think he is Honest. I think he is more Charismatic than Clinton or the Republican. The Swing States, non voters, independents, will all do what they will do. Obama gives me hope that there can be Change. He seems to be gaining ground.

I hope the change will be hopeful, because if we don't have change, how can we have hope? The only hope for change, will be when we hope for the change that will change our hope. The only problem with the Democratic debate is that it was apparently run for the benefit of the Republicans.

This is because the debates used to be sponsored by a non-partisan group, the League of Women Voters. They used to do a great job, and at least ask relevant questions. Now the debates are part of the media. This is nauseating ... and every debate has been like this ... a media non-event.

We drastically need the fairness doctrine back in place, and some power shifted to the people, as well as responsiblity.

It is time to start to balance the budget and put some progressive taxes back in place to nip this royal class we seem to be creating in the bud and start to build Americans again instead of just monopolizing the products of the people who live in the US for maximum global profit.

Hi Kay ... still on the warpath against Obama I see. Over time I have become much more comfortable with Obama, and in fact I agree with him on many thing. One major deciding factor was that Robert Reich, the Clinton's former Labor Secretary endoresed Obama yesterday. Reich represents almost exactly where I am politically ... I think of myself as a bit more radical on the left, and militaristic on the right, but he is me with the edges trimmed so to speak. He is much more thoughtful and professional than most of the candidates out there and his opinion carries a lot of weight with me.
