Heart Cath scheduled

Well everyone my heart cath is scheduled for tomorrow and to be honest I am a nervous wreck.  I know its a normal procedure I had one in 2000 but it don't help things. 

See two years ago my grandma had the same thing done and had a stroke while on the table.  She was put on life support once we took her off she lived 5 days.  

On top of things everyone says I am doing the exact same thing my grandfather done.  Like that don't suprise me none I am a spitting image of him so would be natural I would have his heart too. 

Anyways I am scheduled for tomorrow at St John's hospital for 3PM.  I am going to give Nancy and Jan a number to James' adopted grandparents so they can keep updated.  Then ask them to update all of you.  They will be home tomorrow keeping James for us while I am recooperating.

I will be happy to help Renee. You should tell the doctor about your fears. Your stress can do things like raise your blood pressure. All of your friends will be praying for you and for a good outcome. God bless.

I have had this procedure done several times. As with any procedure, there is a risk of complications, but the benfits may be much greater. I will keep you in my prayers.

We will be praying for you Renee. When they did mine, I was in the hospital for something entirely different I thought. But they put me to sleep. I woke up with no pain, except the incision in my inner thigh was a little uncomfortable for a while.

Good luck with the heart cath. Its not really that bad. It takes about an hour and they give you a shot in your IV to relax you. The hardest part for me was laying still on my back for an hour. I went home a couple of hours after but was supposed to rest the rest of the day and not lift anything. Since I have throat problems, the doctor let me chew gum and sip water during the heart cath. I spit out the gum though because I was afraid I'd choke on it while laying on my back. I think the chances of a heart cath causing anything like a stroke would be extremely small. They wouldn't do the cath if they weren't confident that it would come out fine.

My prayers are with you Renee and don't compare yourself to anyone else, you are yourself and a strong person, so sure you will come through this fine, my husband had one years ago, and he was home the next day, and he was much older than youj. I just had that done last year. Nothing to it but a little scary as is any medical test. It will be over before you know it even happened.

I'll be keeping you in my prayers. I've had at least 5 heart caths, perhaps more, I'm not sure. With six stents in my heart, and three angioplasties before that, I have had quite a few. I know you'll be fine but the prayers of all of us are with you.

Good luck with this one I had Heart Cat back in 85 and another stress test last month. Just think about it at your age if there is something wrong most likely they will fix it and you will live to be an old lady.
