I shopped my closet this week for those in need. I met a young woman, Marianna, who lives in my town through the freecycle network and wanted to help her dress for her new higher paying job.
I set out looking for stuff for Marrianna and found a fancy white lace suit that was in a heap at the bottom of my closet. It had incredible lace detail on the jacket and a matching skirt. She will be able to put the suit to good use at her new job.
I came across a bag of dress pants I had grown out of, they weren't Marianna's size but I wanted to donate them
to another less known charity (not goodwill), to spread the love around! Big Brothers & Big Sisters accepts clothing donations plus the donations are tax deductable! Our closet is overstuffed with junk we dont need so I went through the whole closet, getting rid of the stuff we haven't worn in a year or so. Separating out junk you haven't worn in awhile shows you just how much stuff you don't need! I was on a roll so I just kept on going through things.
I made a pile for the stuff I didn't need to keep, a pile of clothes that were out of season (so I could store them) and all the stuff I kept in the closet got rearranged.
Shopping my closet really got the organization ball rolling, it helped those in need and it got me reacquainted with clothes that I forgot I had.
It was a fun wonderful experence and I feel much better now! I would highly recommend that you shop your closet today! Trust me, it is worth it for everyone!
