IPC Reactivation ! ! !

Hi All:

I am considering re-activating the Intense Photo Challenge and combining the philosophy with Hazel's Photography Challenge Group.  She's had several issues and her wildly popular group has been Idle since August last year.  Besides giving me her blessing for this group . . . she's a fine person and, when she comes back we'll be moving back to her group for her challenges.

While we wait, I think we can still have some fun!  The set up is combining the two groups and works this way:

  • Shoot a shot FOR the project . . . (Don't upload one that was taken before the project was announced, even if perfect for it . . . honor system here.)
  • Photo MUST have IPC as a tag.
  • Photo MUST be uploaded to IPC Group by a Member who TOOK it!
  • Intense means what it says:
    If your image is 12:01 on the first day of the month it's out.
  • If a moderator disallows your image . . . check it out, something was wrong.
    The project should reflect a challenge . . . something NOT too easy.
  • Winner will select next month's theme AND judge it!
  • Contest runs to the last minute of the last day of the calendar month <i>Gather</i> time.  No exceptions.

Questions, ideas, or suggestions for themes for our first one?

Incidentally, if you're not interested in further IPC issues you need do nothing, all future e-mails on this topic will go solely to group members.

Have no camera Doyle out there looking for a donation of one no uses anymore and will work. With software. I will pay postage if necessary. Small very small and very fixed income doesn't allow for the bells and whistles.

I don't think I'm probably a good enough photographer for this. Recently someone called me a good photographer (in my world, not Gatherland). I'm sure those were lucky shots, though. Those pictures aren't posted here.

Carol > you should check out eBay and Craigslist for used older digital cameras...you can get cheap film cameras at Goodwill shops,but then have to buy film,and pay lab fees for developing n' transferring to CDs

Penni . . . you're not competing against some high-powered, well equipped pro. You're here to learn and compete against yourself . . . I've seen pros with great shots from a cell phone cam. Ok . . . not really . . . but I wouldn't be surprised.

for what it is worth, one of my frequently purchased photos was shot with a one-time use camera!....yes, good glass can make a difference in print quality, but it is the vision of the photog which counts for the most part, not the equipment ....

Gayle . . . WE know . . . but it IS easy to be intimidated by expensive equipment! My own sainted Mother would be LOST using my equipment. Group members will learn that not the camera, but the shot is what really counts!

Jen, the projects will vary month to month . . . it's not an 'any photo' group . . . but a specific challenge for a photographer. But a new grandchild?? That's cool.
