Don't really know how to start this so I'm just going to come right out and say it, don't understand how people think anymore I really don't. I feel like since I've been on this site I've had to change to please people or people just don't like you. Don't understand it thought people were more grown up on here and you could be who you are no complaints. Well in the last week I've found that not to be true, this is not to offend anyone I just need to get this off my chest. From people correcting my spelling to people studying my punctuations, to people saying just because I'm shortening my words because it's the way I talk to they can't read it and delete me from there friends, people say I seem childish because of writing this way or talking this way. I've had people delete their selves from my friends everyday for this childish mess. People complain about myspace and facebook but at least on those sites I can be me. People tell me to use spell check well I'am and writing so everyone can understand what I'm writing. I like this site and granted I joined for the points and money first, although I've made some good friends that seem to not care how I write that or there just not saying anything I don't know. But I would like to know who are my friends regardless of how I type or say things. What makes me the most mad as I've been working hard to help people make there goal granted I'm only one person and can only do so much but I've helped several people out and these are some of the people after I help them, they delete me as a friend I don't get it I bust my butt to help them for them to turn there back on me, yeah that's very grown up. And for my friends on my friends group I'm sorry I haven't been posting on everyone's articles lately but I've been trying to help people out that have helped me, if this makes me a bad person then I guess your doing the right thing by deleting me.

Everyone has a different style and personality, which is what this website is here to feature.
Just keep being yourself and don't worry about others.
I'll keep ya as a friend and I won't try to correct your spelling and all that good stuff, either....
don't take some of these people for being bad, I think they are just trying to help you, too...
As for the mass emails, I get them from many people, does not bother me.

But I do have to say I am not a fan of someone correcting me.
I have also had someone correct me and I just chose to ignore it.
I hope this doesn't happen often.
I guess what I am saying is if you let me be me, the least I can do is let you be you.
I don't get hung up on things like this.
By the way, I like having people read my articles and especially my novel Invisible Hand but I don't care about the points. If you feel like reading my stuff that's great. If you leave a comment that shows you were really thinking about what I wrote, that's even better. But you don't owe me a thing so you don't have to read my stuff and you don't have to comment. I'll still read your stuff that looks interesting and I'll still comment when my ego thinks I have something worth saying. :-)

there is on some programs, A Grammar checker....this can be more important than a spell checker......if you want to improve your writing skills, you might look to see if your pc has a grammar checker....it only takes a minute to run through a short article and it can make it look better....IF You Want to...
If you choose to be a writer, then you have chosen to communicate you thoughts. That means writing as clearly as you are able using correct form complete words and correct spelling. Using shortened word like plz for please might be acceptable in text messaging but not in article writing. What you are implying is that you are in a terrible hurry and have no respect for the reader
On the other side of the coin, a reader has no right to point out spelling or grammar errors. Those who do often only do so to prove how smart they are, not to help you
There is a lot of good writing on Gather, There is also a lot of CRAP, You alone can decide which group you wish to inhabit

I had to change some when I was a Guide or else people would slam me and say the worst thing they could: "Gather chose the wrong person to Guide us!' and it would really hurt my feelings, but I knew they were just saying it because they knew it would get to me. People will always find something to say to you... and it's horrible. I couldn't speak out against mass mails or anything else I hated here because then I'd get slammed... low rated, harassed, you name it.
People hide behind their computers and think they're tougher than they really are, and that's stupid.
If people want to disconnect from you because they don't like the 'real you', then that's fine. You don't need those kind of people in your life anyway!
You wouldn't associate with those kind of people in your real life, would you? Then why put up with those kind of people here?

I am a firm believer in what goes around comes around..I learned along time ago to just let people like that go,and not let it get to me,I don't care what people think of me. I am who I am and I cant change that ..and I surely wont apologize for that either its like apologizing for being real!!!

First of all why would you give a hoot what others think about the way that you write?
I have read other articles that have had words miss-spelled. I even do it myself, don't give a damn if others don't like it or not. Just be yourself and then the ones that you have as friends, you will know that they are your friends.
For the ones who deleted you, well, you don't need them anyway!

I am learning more and more that such behavior really is not about me, but is about the person who is doing it.
I only let it be "about me" when I take it in. This is tough advice to follow, i know, because I struggle every day myself to do it:

My lack of comments on Gather the past two weeks have been a direct result of my being sick; I hope that no one saw my inactions as a personal slight. Sometimes I read but do not have the energy or time to post a comment. I don't think about points when I come to Gather. That's just me; hopefully, no energy for or against anyone building points.

personally those people were some of my favorites on gather for i used to antagonize them just to start arguments...made a ton of points sometimes when they would argue back,plus it was funny to me.those people always think they are above anyone else.but as you notice they only hide behind their puters and talk smack.not one of them have any balls to say it face to face.i know,i have challenged a few of them.got alot of points regarding that to,hehe

I have not even noticed the word shortening thing. Having read your stuff I must have seen it, but it obviously didn't bother me cus I can't even remember it. Now I will agree with the guy above and say that I use my best grammar and spelling for my formal articles, but for comments and such, a plz and thnk u would suffice. Having said that, I'd never be moved to judged anyone, regardless.

I have been lucky to have only been approached so far by wonderful people like yourself on Gather. But I also do not put myself out there the way you do. It is obvious you are passionate and you care. I promise you that there are more people here enjoying you than are criticizing you. Don't even read their lame comments.
