No pings courtesy

As a courtesy to my fellow Gatherites, I have turned off pinging and I promise I will not ping anyone either.

Hopefully, that will cut down on some of the clutter for everyone else.

If any of you would like to join me, feel free to avoid pinging until this can be shut off permanently from the feeds.

I won't ping you but I like pings especially if one of my contacts has not published anything new recently but continues to comment on my stuff...which is greatly appreciated. I like to stop by quickly and say HI and thank you.

Normally I don't ping, nor do I look at mine half the time. With all the mail, its so hard to keep up with everything. LOL

I am just now really getting the hang of the upgrades. I think we will all be more comforable with the feel of things after a bit of adjustment. I am not into pinging anyway but who knows. :)

If God didn't intend for us to ping, he wouldn't have given us bicycle bells. Face it, sometimes someone is just begging for a ping. Dressed too provocatively? Not necessarily. I'll ping anything that moves.

Mine is shut off too. Didn't use it anyway, and always forgot to check it and coming across as rude I was afraid, ha ha. I prefer an internal email actually.

LOL I never have been much for pinging... usually I get a dull thud instead. :P

Ponging I agree is something else as well as ringing bells. :) In the meantime, email seems to be better for me.

I dont mind them at all,if someone dont have content for me to comment on and they always comment me,Id like to leave them something in return like a thank your or what not,it is for some people and not for others.

I guess I never understood why people ping instead of email. With the new changes, you're only getting (for now at least), the last 500 "events" for any of your friends. That includes pings sent by your friends and pings sent to your friends (even if the ping wasn't sent by one of your friends). So, pinging ends up restricting the articles, videos, and images that other people have access to in their feeds. I find that annoying and frustrating to say the least.

Pinging and ponging! What will the internet think of next? Sounds more like a video game to me. I have no real use for pinging, as it is called. Nor do I care for the wasted page telling me who just pinged who.

I receive pings and it doesn't bother me but I don't ping anyone either. I just prefer to send a message if I have something to say.

I turned mine off too. If you did not stop your Ping feed immediately, however, some may have been collected and put out on Google. Search and you will find them.

The more I'm learning about this latest upgrade the more convinced I am that turning off pinging was the right thing to do.
