So you have had a couple days to get used to the changes. Do you like them? There are things I like (such as now you can see the # of views). And there are things that I really hate, (such as it's incredibly hard to navigate, and your feeds shows stupid meinel things like Joe is now friends with Sue, and Jane pinged George).
So, do you like the upgrade overall? I would have to say I don't. I would like it to go back to the way it was before. But from what I've heard, it's not happening.
Anyway, I have to go. But what do you think about the upgrade? If you could choose whether or not to change it back, what would you choose?

I am getting used to it but it SO JUNKY !!!
And PINGS are stupid redundant junk, too.
ADDING is not IMPROVING !!!
I love seeing all the articles with the persons icon next to it!!!
I'm not interested in most of those "feed me" functions, or friend feed sets, and it's all too cluttered and small for me in comparison. Click, click, click, click menu.... sigh, LOL.
Most of the other things that got changed I think I can get used to, but I can't shake the feeling I am missing a lot of articles.
* negatives---
---too many useless clicks to get to what I want....(= $ Gather)(= Less $ me)
---I feel like I'm looking at my email box,again....
---too much "stuff" on my page...
---more useless clicks.....
NO!!!!
I wish they would stop fixing things that aren't broken!
Besides, I've actually found the group feed useful to tell when people are posting things to my groups.
A couple of problems I noticed:
Deleted comments still show up in the feed
My journal RSS is now posting multiple copies of the same article (eep)
But for the most part, I'm enjoying things.
I use the filters to find my articles.
I do like the group feeds very much. It is easier to keep up on all my groups.
But I will get use to it.
I would like to have an option to revert to the previous lay-out.
However, what is more annoying to me is that so much effort was spent on superficial stuff and the publication editor is still terrible, as is the comment "editor".
1. Why do we work in these tiny little windows that show about 1/16 or less of my screen? So we can do this on our mobile phones and have the same interface, maybe? Appallingly bad....
2. Why is it such a pain to put links into comments? I'm always cutting and pasting forever to add a few links.
3. Why can't we edit comments? Even really lousy sites allow things like comments to be edited for 2 minutes, etc. When only a tiny fraction of the text is visible at any one time, I find it very hard to proof-read. So, why????? Yeah, I know, yada yada yada.
4. There has been a dramatic decrease in readers of my articles since the change. Why? I guess my content is lousy. Or maybe people can't be bothered to navigate around the site? Tell me my content is lousy and I'll feel much better about the changes.
Other than that, it's like, awesome, man. :)
I'm beginning to like the Feed because I see more articles on a page but I wish it didn't default to All activities and showed me articles instead.
There are a number of extra clicks required from My Gather, like Publish an Article.
Anyway, I'll survive.
I don't like the junky look you get when you see who commented, pinged, or made friends with who. That's stupid. I don't need to know, and I don't want to know.
I like the spotlight idea, but it is too limited! I want to spotlight any photo. It will only let me spotlight the latest information whether it be photos, articles, or video!!! I even tried to repost a couple of images, hoping it would allow me to spotlight them. It won't. I want control over what I want to spotlight!!
To me, if Gather has descent programers, they should be able to adjust some of these items.
With the comments, and too much personal info being given out, they just need to make an on/off button. Those who want their stuff to be seen fine. Those who don't, don't.
As far as spotlight, I don't see a reason for that being limited the way it is.
I haven't had time to explore much else. I have noticed that because of all the craziness, it is taking up a lot of my gather time. There's more that I haven't figured out, but I guess I will muddle through it!
Thanks for listening!
i plan on sticking it out... i don't want to leave my Gather friends... take care...
Honestly I could careless how many people have been to see my stuff. If they wanted me to know they were there, they would leave a message. It just shows me how many people waste alot of time on gather by going into an article, image, or video and dont take the time to leave a comment or rating. I dont even bother looking at the page views.
As for the feeds, well I dont care if you are friends with someone, it is not my buisness. Just as it is not yours that I am friends with someone. The same goes for pings. The only thing now I seem to read my pings to where before I hardly ever did, because they were not so in your face.
Since the changes I have missed so much of my friends stuff. Im lost and this is why I dont bother with BT. I cant stand that site because its like running in endless circles, getting nowhere.
I have seen about a 50% drop in rating and comments since the update on my things. My points have hardly moved since the update. In the week before it, I was getting over 100 points a day. Since its happened I have only gotten about 200 points total.
It junk and I cant stand it. I want the old gather back.
The way I view this is, would I stay on this site if I was coming into it today? Yes, I would learn the ways to navigate that are easier for me, I would ignore what I didn't like and just cope with it.
I like the number of views on articles and images.
I would prefer, when I click on a person.gather.com link, that I see their articles, images, and videos on one page. And their profile page be a separate link.
I am afraid that since a person's articles, images, and videos are now separate some content is going to be missed. You might be there to read about my awesome day, but miss my video of the cat chasing a siberian husky.
I think it's too much work with the feeds. Click to see comments, click to see articles, click to images.

NO! I dislike this upgrade.
But they shall not change it, shall they. Gather must be made to look as palatable as possible, mustn't it. (Rhetorical question.)
Seems like it was released before it was ready in order to meet a deadline.
The new interface looks awful, and requires extra clicks to get to the same information that was previously easily available.
I don't think the system needs to go back to the old version, but there should at least be options to set defaults so we see the type of content we want, rather than being forced to switch the view just to get rid of all of the comments, pings, and friends announcements.
The couple of features that people seem to like (page view counts and spotlighting) could have been implemented without the changes to the namespace and My Gather pages.
So I'm definitely voting in the "Don't Like It" category.

The spotlight function would be great if you could spotlight older articles too. This way it's close to useless.
The de-emphasizing of articles and images in favor of chatter and buzz is disappointing, to say the least.
