This Hollywood star is one of the wisest authors I have met. This is a lady of both inner and outer beauty, of wisdom, and talent.
The first chapter is "Getting Out of Your Comfort Zone: The Fun of Facing Your Fears." She asks the right questions.
"Are you afraid your fat clothes are becoming your wardrobe?" I had to answer yes.
"Are you afraid that you're getting too comfortable in your rut?" It was like she was reading my mind. I knew the changes I had to make, but I wasn't making them. I had excuses. Before I knew it I was onto the next chapter. I really needed this book.
I am a vegetarian who tries to be vegan, so I was a little ahead of most readers. Many will resist Henner's chapters about giving up disgusting foods like dairy and meat products. Twenty years ago, I had no trouble giving up meat which I never really liked, but dairy and sugar are tougher. This book helped me at least with the dairy and since finishing it, I am eating a lot less sugar. Anyway it is worth it to find ways to eat healthier and clearly we should not need Marilu Henner to tell us that America is becoming an obese and unhealthy nation.
My favorite chapters are the ones on make believe. Perhaps you have heard the expression, "fake it until you make it." I have always used a little fantasy to get by in my life. I have long known that if I pretend to be the person I want to be, I can grow into that person. Henner gives several great acting techniques that help the reader grow. I can't wait to reread and to use over and over again the techniques in the chapter "The Role of Your Life." I love this chapter. I love the entire book.
This is a must read. No matter what stage of your life you are in, there is room for self improvement and this lady is a master instructor.
Thank you Marilu. I will order your other books from Amazon and I love you for being a great teacher, a great role model, a great author and a great human being.
We need more authors like this lady.
We need more celebrities like this.

This is a wise woman in every sense of the word and she is a great beauty inside and out. I put her other books on my wish list on Amazon and i might even buy a DVD of "Taxi."
You'll enjoy Taxi, one of the best sitcoms ever. Marilu plays a good counterpoint to "the guy."
The early ones with Andy Kaufman are particularly funny.
I am usually not starstuck, but this lady is smart and she is a good role model. Yes, even people my age need role models.
(you always gotta have your CHEESE !!!!) ha ha
Great review !!!
Though I'm not giving up meat, dairy and sugar, I have been eating less of them. I enjoyed learning about the blood-type diet from Dr. Peter D'Adamo's book, "Eat Right for Your Type." Some people need meat.
