Thats right two women turn a king size bed into a queen size bed. :-) Yep!
So i bought a bed frame for $30 at a trading post/antique store, now I thought it was Queen, so did the "shop keeper". Well we got it home and it clearly was a King size headboard. Here we had two choices get rid of it or make it work. Being two handy women we decided to make it work!!!
So using a pipe cutter we cut it down to Queen size - that was easy. However the ends had a screw that needed to be there to hold the whole thing together, well the threading was in the end of the piece we cut off. Here we had three choices, cut off and sauder (not sure if i am spelling that right) the tubes together with the threading in it. Rig it with playdoh or get the threading out and into the newly cut tubes. We picked number three, using a screw driver and a little WD-40 on the rusty one we were able to get the piece with the screw threading out. It was a great moment!!
Next we had to get it in the new pipes, this was only a problem till i decided to bang the stupid thing in, even if it didn't want to go in. Soon after we had the bed cut and now rebuilt. Yes it's not perfect, but if you didn't know it was cut you'd have no idea.
What do you think?
*Notes*
- I was very pleased that I was able to redo the bed without have to bring new materials into production, I did use a few new things but I had them left over from another project. So a new headboard with very little impact on mother nature. :-)
- While doing this I kept noticing where stuff was made, I figured for fun I'd list the materials and where they were made. :-)
- Pipe cutter - Made in the USA!
- Sand paper - Made in China
- WD - 40 - Made in the USA!
- Tools - (wrench, screw driver so on) all were either US or China - too many to list each one.
- Tape - made in Taiwan
- Measuring Tape - China
- The Frame it's self doesn't say - but I am going to guess China or the US based on list above. LOL
Time - it took us maybe an hour and a half to complete.
Are we done? Nope, I am going to repaint it to match the room makeover I am planning. Look for pictures of that. :-)

Good luck on the make over
Good job on you two.
I always tell him it is a good thing his last name is not Edison...cause we would still be in the dark ages!

(Oh, since you mentioned it, it's spelled solder - you spelled it like it sounded though, and I could tell from context clues exactly what you meant!) :-D
