Gather Upgrade

I don't want to appear to be stupid...but I am having a problem with these upgrades. I want to read others articles. I can get to all gathers articles. I can't find the list of my connections articles. So I went and clicked on my connections to go to their pages to get to see their articles and guess what, all I see are their comments and when I select articles...it doesn't do that it goes back to showing me all- which is mainly their comments.

I am getting very frustrated quickly as I don't want to have to sort through all the articles posted on this site to see my connections articles. When I have time, I may want to see all the articles, but right now I don't want to do than nor do I want to waste my time scrolling through all the articles.

I am not real good with change, and although I can see some great stuff here and good design improvements, the reality is they put this in before it was ready.  When I tried to ping someone, it didn't work and when I wrote the ping, I had to type like I was using a typewriter as the text did not automatically drop when the screen was filled up.

Hopefully someone will have spent more time and can give me a clue on how to do more than post and article an read my mail.

I wish I could be of some help Heather. I just automatically do as usual, I go to friends and open their articles and images to view and comment. If I want to see what anyone commented on my stuff, I have to go to my stuff to look.

I used to have it on settings so I could see what people commented on my stuff, but all of the sudden I started getting everyone's comments on everything. So I shut that off.

I haven't tried pings yet.

I don't know what to think, some people seem to be having problems seeing things I can see, they can't see them, from the way it's described.

Does it help if you go to your My Gather page and click on friends and view articles or images? Then it shows your friends' things.

It's where it says friends feeds.

Yeah, on your MyGather page where it shows the "friends feed," use the dropdown box and select "articles." You don't have to click through to their personal pages....just filter it so you can see all of your connections' articles only.

Just got on now after the upgrade. Sorta lost here. Been a long day, so maybe I am having a brain halt here.

On the FRIENDS feed you have two drop down white boxes - one says all activities - if you click on the down arrow thingie, one of your options is to choose articles.

I see Quirky answered your question. Took me quite awhil to work it out. I can't say I like this system very much. I hope our private articles are still private seeing as all of Gather's articles are rolling down everyones screen!

I have always given gather.com an "A+" for their user friendly manner of developing their web site. However, I see that is falling by the wayside. Changes are sometimes necessary but a few at a time are the best way to proceed. I feel like I knew my way around but then someone added another million trees to the forest and now I am totally lost; and I am not sure I even want to bother to see if I can find my way.

If you want to see your friends older articles you have to go to their page and at the top in the orange bar click on articles. It brings you to a page that has all their articles they ever wrote that you can page thru and find what you want.

I've been using friends feed, articles. And I've used the orange band on a friend's page to reach their articles, including all their older ones. I like the spotlight so I can see what they most want to advertise. Wish the feed defaulted to articles instead of all, but I guess they'll fix that soon - they were probably trying to accomodate those who want friend's pictures rather than articles.

I followed Marty's suggestion and logged out and back in and it fixed my Gather points problem. I haven't had the problem you have had (you said when you go to choose articles it doesn't actually work).

I hope that the little glitches get ironed out. We'll all be less frustrated when we've adapted slightly and the glitches are also fixed...

Thanks everyone! I was able to do what I wanted to do and I thank you for all your help!
I was getting so frustrated and I could only think to just write an article and ask.

I've commented before in other articles that every time there is an upgrade, it's like joining a brand new website. I'm finding it very hard to keep up with my friends articles, even using the techniques mentioned above. I'm still doing an awful lot of page down page down next page page down stuff. I really don't have time for this at all, and feeling like I'm staggering around in the dark is not only cutting into my fun, but making it much slower for me. Not a good combo, in my opinion.

To be honest I haven't been on enough to notice upgrades. The rally has cut my gather time in a positive way. I am going to be heading to clean up and maybe rest a day or two then I will be back in the swing of gather. The comments above helped me as well no about the upgrades as well as you article.
