Tonight Memphis State will play Kansas in the National Title Game. Memphis State has turned out to be quite a basketball team this year, earning accolades and respect. We have watched the tournament games. I must admit the only reason I watched initially was to see who is Joey Dorsey. Back when we had our famous day of snow,my husband and I went to Overton Park and met some fine young men who had built a snowman and named him Joey Dorsey. Telling us the snowman's name meant we asked many questions, including who is Joey Dorsey. Well, we learned Joey Dorsey is a basketball player for Memphis State, and that these guys felt Joey Dorsey could go on to the NBA. And he is also big. Joey Dorsey is 6'9" tall and weighs 265 pounds. If he were coming toward me, I would stand still and just hand him the ball. Guess it's good I don't play basketball. Now I want to meet Joey Dorsey in person. I have been wondering just exactly how do you meet a basketball player at the college level. I think his autograph would be nice. Maybe he would give me autographs for the guys at the park too. Here is a photo of the Snowman aka Joey Dorsey these young men created.
Here is the real Joey Dorsey, and as you can see, he is a very big guy. He wears the Number 3, and towers over his coach. I have learned Joey Dorsey is an important member of the Memphis State Basketball team. And, true to the opinions of his fan club in the park, Joey Dorsey is a very good basketball player. I hope he doesn't hesitate to meet this old lady who wants to meet him.
This photograph of Joey Dorsey is in an article written by Gene Wojciechowski, who is a senior national columnist for ESPN.com. This is an archived article updated April 6, 2008 I found going through Google. The photo is by Andy Lyons/Getty Images.
I wish I had gotten to know Joey Dorsey while he played basketball for Memphis State. Tonight will be his last game with Memphis State. I hope he gets a ring, and I hope he has a wonderful life. He has endeared himself to many a Memphian whether he knows it or not, and I have become one of the silent masses who has learned to care for and respect him.
Good Luck, Joey, and God Bless You.

Hi, Patricia. Nice to see you.
aww,I 'm just joking and am sorry for the loss..
well ,you still are a winner with this great article!
hey,I bet you were a tomboy growing up?
Hi, Ina, don't sweat it. I'm still asking questions and wondering what happened. Nice to see you.
I'm not a Basketball fan but I'm sure this gentleman would be happy to meet you and heck I''d take the photo of the snow man along for him to autograph..he'd probably get a kick out of it
According to my experience, the bigger the guy, the nicer he is. I think that that's because he has nothing to prove.
Napoleon was a little guy and look what he did.
When I played competitive sport, I played all out to win but if in the end we lost...we shrugged our shoulders. If you're a pro, it may be different.
I remember your story about the snowman. It was great, Lynn.
Hi, Fred, I am very glad to hear a sport player say you would shrug your shoulders. That would be reasonable to me. Winning's great, but if you don't, it shouldn't devastate you. I'm glad you offered your thoughts on this. And thank you for stopping by. Nice to see you.
Washinton football team, Mark Mosley the kicker for the redskins. His Mom and Dad were friends of mine . His dad was pall bearer at both their funerals. Nice people. But basketball I have heard of a few of the Houston players names. Hakeem and that big guy I think Yau Ming . See how little I know. Not much. Just dropped in to let you know I am back home from Houston.
Hi, Norma. Glad you are home. I just told my husband I was giving up basketball and football. No more of either one. He'll have to go it alone. I only started watching basketball when these tournament games began. Short and sweet. This is it. But I'm still going to try to meet Joey Dorsey. Thanks for stopping by.
Your remark about just handing him the ball reminds me of an old Bill Cosby skit on football.
Sorry your team lost, but I'm glad it was a good game. If you're going to lose, make sure it's when you've played your best and when you're up against a good team. Best of luck in meeting Dorsey. I'm sure he'd appreciate your admiration.
Give me 5 minutes in a pick-up game with anyone, and I can tell you more about their personality than in a 30 minute job interview. Don't you just love a game like that!
sorry for being late here. What a big ginat -size player he is.I will stand no where. In my 10th grade I tried to become a basket -ball player but soon realized I behaved mere a jumping jack near the basket, nothing else.I quit playing basket-ball because of my height.Your previous snowman story is still in my mind and I can see your happines after the Kansas won..That's something Kool..
love and sorry for not replying yet...
but you love me I know:)
I had to laugh out loud about giving up basketball because you were a mere jumping jack. I can relate to that, since I am also short, far too short to successfully play basketball. But height doesn't blow baseball, oh, no. Maybe you can take up baseball with your son. The whole family. It can be very fun. Thank you for visiting. It's always nice to see you.
Now I may stay here.
Lynn I am calling it a night. I published an article, a drabble but dont know where it ended up when I published it. I think it went flying off into internet superhighway.Well I tried anyway.
Hi, Norma, Yes, I do think you lost your drabble, but then it could be I just can't find it. That isn't unusual. At this point I can't hardly find anything. I just click on comments and go where that road leads. To find you I go in email and click on your name. We are freezing here, after the warm weather, it has dropped down into the 30's last night and today we are in the 40's. It amazes me how quickly 50 degrees can feel cold. It was just a couple of weeks ago 50 felt warm. Oh well. Glad I didn't plant the garden yet. We will have 30 degree temperatures at night for a few more days. See you later.
LA is getting hot . My AC is on for all the day , along with the fan.Like a buffalo I need to sit in the water.
I guess the New Media made me really dislike sports.
Judi J., after all the jumping and hooting I did, I'm giving the sport up. It is far too exciting for me, but I have to admit it was fun. My husband will have to root on his on from here on out. Glad to see you.
Norma, I am more like you. Besides, with spring coming and the plants to plant, t.v. will take a back seat. So no time for sports for a long time. But it was fun, and I really enjoyed watching it during that tournament, but it is just too exciting.
Thanks for your lovely sweet best wishes...
AND THANKS for leaving best wishes for me on my article.
Hi, Tiffany, glad you came by.
Buzzy, You are so welcome. I meant every word of it.
Magi, Glad you enjoyed the article. It's my first ever sports article. Probably my last. But it was fun. Thank you for stopping by.
You're welcome, Curt. I meant it.
Sheila, I'm glad too. I've got an article in the making, but got so absorbed with the subject matter, that i keep reading instead of writing. And no doubt you really are sick of looking at snow. LOL. It is a novelty for us.
Have a great gather day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love
