2007 Economic Stimulus Payment Question

If it is spent in the economy it will heklp but folks are so scared niow that they may try to "save" it... which will totally neagte the proposed effect on the economy!

I fear it won't help the economy as much as everyone hopes. I believe people are in such financial straits the money will go directly towards paying off debt. There will be those people who will put it back into the economy but I wonder if it will be enough seeing as how bad the situation really is. I believe the government has to make a stronger stand in curtailing gas prices and helping the average American citizen. People are losing their jobs right and left, people cannot afford to feed their family and all we get is rhetoric

Alaska is a state, have we tapped into the Alaska pipeline of gas. The would help America,s economy to get gas prices back down where we could afford to go somewhere. Mine will be spent on gasoline and food.Most are being shipped in from overseas. Now they need to start making the "Made in USA" a thing we see more and more. that would stimulate the encoomy.

The stimulus won't help as much as the government hopes and thinks it will because like stated above most people will use it for one of three things
1. Gas with prices the way they are all over the country it is ridiculous here in California I believe they will get over the $4.00 mark this summer so the stimulus will provide the typical driver of an SUV or Minivan about 5 or 6 tanks of gasoline.
2. A lot of the people will use it to pay down their debt.
3. While others will just put into their savings.
So in conclusion very little of the total stimulus will be going back to the economy. However When the new Administration takes office I think whoever takes office will try to do something drastic to stimulate the economy. I also believe that the Fed will cut rates again which should bring the housing market back and there will be another refinance craze, which I am not sure if it is a good thing since last time houses where way overpriced. This will put more money in peoples pockets to spend on stuff they don't need. This however will start a rebound in consumer confidence and drive the markets up and strengthen the Dollar...

I don't think the stimulus package is going to help at all. We've got sky rocketing gas prices, people losing their jobs, it's just going to give people a little slice of help when really this country needs to WAKE up before we lose everything!

To be realistic, the economy should never have been allowed to get in this mess to start with. If the banks had checked the people they were financing, you wouldn't have families without homes.If Big business was not allowed to export jobs, perhaps people could pay for these overpriced homes they seem to think they need, indeed is their right to have!Smart people will take the tax money and stock their pantries and use the rest to pay down debt or just save it. If we don't get rid of all the pork and get some common sense HONEST management in our gov't soon, we will all be living under bridges somewhere.

How can it help...............it is OUR MONEY thrown back at us! Remember, class, we all pay(well, working people do, that is) to fund and support our government, so any money "they" have is from us!

Exactly most will go for gas and food or maybe make a partial mortgage payment.

I doubt it, since most people gave it up out of their paychecks in the last year or two....

I wish they had used to money to fund a helpful, supportive program....though it is getting nearly impossible to find those any more. Too much pork-barrel legislation.

it will help me when i get the tax break, because my income is at poverty level, but really overall it wont help the economy much. we are in a very bad situation

It helped me out back in 2001 when I was out of work! Fortunately i am working this time around and hopefully will help me now.
