There are so many very old trees at Brookgreen Gardens. I thought I would share some of these magnificent trees with Gather! I know there are a lot of tree huggers out there that will appreciate it.
I've heard this called so many different names. The most familiar to me is Spanish Moss.

I found this just amazing.

How peaceful is this?

This one must be very old.
This walkway was just beautiful.

I love the colors of the flowers on these two.

I found so many of the tree trunks interesting. Many are split from age, but still survive.

I find the width and height of these to be amazing too. I don't think I've ever seen trees so big.

Another huge majestic oak.

I made DH stand in front of it so you could see how immense it was.

I really found this interesting. I was tempted to stick my head up in the hole to see what it was like inside.

Here's a close up. Isn't it amazing?

Another with a large opening in the trunk.

There were so many dogwood trees, all so pretty.

And among all the old, a grove of new pine trees have been planted.
I hope you enjoyed all these beautiful trees as much as I did.

Lindy, yes I believe these are Spanish Oak trees. It's funny you should ask. I saw a small sign about the oak trees and how long they have been here and I was thinking that they didn't look anything like the oak trees I was familiar with being from the north. Then I later learned that here in South Carolina they have Spanish Oaks.
photo essay. The pictures are
so wonderful to look at.
Again Nana, I really enjoyed this lovely little walk with you, - this is just beautiful!! BTW, I probably would have stuck me head up that hole,--- probably would have gotten it bitten off but knowing me I would have had to take a peep!!! LOL

I think I liked the trees best - I have always been partial to trees. You really took some outstanding shots of those spanish oaks - lovely. Such a treat for the eyes - I'll re-visit with a cup of coffee in the morning one more time.
Great photos. Spanish Moss is so lovely, and those trees look so majestic! Hug old trees are great to see.
