For the past couple of years, my nephews have been quite involved with martial arts. They are ages 7 and 10. Yesterday was their annual tournament in a neighboring town. The youngest one had never won a trophy and so I was excited when he called and had won a 4th place...The older one also won a trophy, but he is a little more casual about things and has won before....I think this is a wonderful sport for them to be a part of and some of the skills they are learning are really great !!
Different from other school sports, everyone plays, not just the best ones. There were no try outs and cuts from the team and everyone works at their own pace....can't beat it in my mind....

Loved this piece, here's to sports for kids.
Although I have several belts in tae kwan do, swimming is just such a sport also, both team, and individual. It is my real love.
Water is just magic. The coolest thing about coaching swimming? Kids can't talk underwater...(((smiles)))
