Going up and down the Inside Passage on the Alaskan Ferry many years ago we used to see these majestic birds all the time.

Bald Eagles sit like that on tree branches along our river. Very patient birds, waiting to spot a fish that will make good eating! If they don't spot one, they soar up and up and up on the thermals and hunt as a pair to find rodents or snakes or some such thing to take back to their nest to feed their young. I wish these didn't have to be caged, but this pair probably have been rescued and placed there in sanctuary. Thank you for posting this lovely photo essay at Home Comfort...

They are so pretty. We usually don't see them that clearly - our zoo has this thick green netting over the fence so it's almost impossible to see.

It's a shame the female was hurt but I'm glad to see she's safe and well.

Thanks Nana. If I recall you did an essay a long time ago where you went to the top of a peak. I thought it was to see the bald eagle. Anyway, these are beautiful creatures and I'd love to see one in the wild someday.

Last year I got hooked on a site with a web cam where you could watch a pair of eagles raising their young. It was fascinating.

Thanks Laurun. Yes I went to see the hawks and did a photo essay on it. It was in the mountains of PA called Hawk Mountain.

They're such beautiful birds. So noble.

It's good to see that they have a rescued bird, too! It's a shame that human interference tends to cause such injury to our fellow creatures on this earth, but it's wonderful to see that, at least in her case, she was rescued and patched up, and now serves a meaningful life helping to educate people!
