I took 2 photos of my garden from last summer. Neither were perfect, the black eye susans and coneflowers had this patch of dirt in the background and the astilbe...well....let's just say I didn't bother to stage that one! I really liked the photo of the coneflowers, but I wanted to make it better.

First I color corrected the photos. I then used the patch tool to cover up some of the blank spots on the coneflower photo, using a grass texture. I then made a clipping path around the astilbe and moved it to the coneflower photo and placed it in the area that I wanted covered.

I then opened a new document, making it 8.5 X 11. I went looking through styles to find something I thought I could work with and decided to use a wood-type style. I still wasn't happy with it(too dark and the texture was too wide), so I went under the fx button(on the layer pallette) and manipulated it to something I thought looked a bit better(I have to fiddle with everything).
I then went back to the coneflower photo and, using the rectangular marquee tool and "sliced" the photo into 4 equal parts. I then transferred the parts to the background style I had picked out and positioned them. Then....I went very fru fru artsy. I used different filters on each quarter to get different effects and VIOLA! Art.
Aft
er looking at the finished product, I'm not sure if I like the background, so it might just be changed....
