My employer recently purchased over 150 Panasonic Toughbooks. Half of them were the super rugged CF-30 model and the other half were the semi-rugged CF-74's. These notebook style computers are called 'Toughbooks' for a good reason. These things are like tanks compared to regular laptop computers. For one, it is housed in a metal case that can take a lot of shock. The hard drive is wrapped in a gel pack to protect it. The monitor is so darn bright that you can see the display in direct sunlight. This CF-74 model is often called their 'business rugged' style. While this isn't the type of PC for home users, it is made to suit people who do a lot of work in the field, where a regular plastic case laptop wouldn't survive for long.
