Some events coming up in the next few days. I'd like to go myself but may only attend one of them. My criteria is simple: I list it if it interests me. I can promise that under no circumstances will events I list include ballet, opera, or how-to-cooking events.
This Saturday and Sunday, Apr 5 and 6, the annual Gem And Mineral Show at a new location in Marion at the Williamson County Pavilion (1602 Sioux Drive behind Illinois Centre Mall) Free admission. Expect rare rock and minerals on display, lapidary, shells, a daily auction and, what I find most interesting, Indian artifacts and fossils. I've never attended one so I don't know quite what it'll have but it sounds interesting.
A slide show on the Upper Missouri River element of the Lewis and Clark Expedition is the topic of a lecture at 7pm Tuesday Apr 8 at the Kinsella Room at the Fairview Heights Public Library (10017 Bunkum Road). Presenter is huymorist, author, educator John Lunn. For those not familiar with it, Fairview Heights is in the MetroEast straddling I-64.
