I have been married to my wonderful husband for almost three years, we've been together almost five. It's been a long road, sometimes happy, sometimes sad. But here we are still together.
I remember the first time we ever met. I was going through a horrible divorce, and had started working in a night club as my second job, because I needed the extra money. I was waitressing that night, and it was my first night. I was so very nervous!
I got to work that night, and realized I hadn't asked where specifically that I was supposed to park. I stopped in front of the door, where I saw two security men. Little did I know then, that one of them was to become my husband later!
The first security man was extremely rude and told me that he didn't care where I parked, and asked what I was doing bothering him with something like that. The second one, came over to my car and apologized for his co-worker's behavior.
I remember being so absolutely stunned by him, that I could barely utter two intelligent words! I stuttered out the whole reason why I was "bothering" them for a place to park, and ended lamely with "And it's my first night, and I'm confused!".
I remember the first thing I thought when I saw his face the first time was, "This is the man I'm supposed to marry!". This was pretty strange coming from me, as I was getting divorced for the second time and wasn't planning on getting serious with ANYONE.
Thankfully, he took pity on me, and found me a parking space fairly close to the door. He told me to find him after work the next morning (our club was open until 5:00 am on the weekends!), and that he'd walk me to my car. After work, I did as he'd asked, and we sat in the parking lot and talked until almost 10:00am.
I ended up dating someone else for awhile, but the whole time, he and I would go out for breakfast after work, we'd hang out outside of work, and ended up becoming room-mates. When I found out I was pregnant by the man I'd been dating and recently broken up with, my husband was the one who was there.
He told me flat-out, if the man who'd gotten me pregnant didn't want anything to do with the baby, that he'd be there for me. As ended up happening, my daughter's biological father wanted nothing to do with the pregnancy, so my husband stepped-in. I was so surprised that he really meant it, not many men would do that! Especially as I already had three children!
Shortly after discovering I was pregnant, and telling my daughter's biological father that I was pregnant, my husband and I ended up moving our relationship to the next level. We became engaged, and he was there through my entire pregnancy and the birth of my daughter. When my daughter was a few months old, we ended up pregnant with our oldest son.
We got married when our oldest son was three months old, we've had another child since then, and the rest, as they say... Is history. And I still think he's the most beautiful man I've ever laid eyes on!
