Writing articles is a great way to promote yourself and your book. If you write non-fiction, write articles on the same subject and offer them free for publication on websites and in ezines. If you write fiction, do the same thing but pick something, like the location of the book, a hobby one of the characters follows, some research you did, and write an article about that. Make sure that in the resource box, you provide a short biography that includes the name of your book, a link to your website or MySpace or other page, and information on where your book can be bought. This gets the name of your book around and it helps establish you as an expert in your field. It can lead to opportunities to speak or to take part in radio programs, even television. At the very least, it's adding to those links in Google for your name and your book.
I have a long list of resources for places to post these articles. Post to as many as possible. So far, I've only managed to post to four or five, since I just got this list Saturday, but I been posting to Ezine Articles for a long time, and am already an expert author there. I intend to pick one article at a time that I've already written, starting with "What is a Ghost?" and post it to all of them in order to promote Ghost to Coast. Then, I'll pick another article and do the same thing.
I intend to post this list, ten at a time. Here's the first ten:
Articlebiz.com
Articlecity.com
Articledashboard.com
Ezinearticles.com
Selfgrowth.com
Articlealley.com
Articlecube.com
easyarticles.com
Ideamarketers.com
Articles.webraydian.com
That should get you started; and I will post more in another message.
