Yesterday I made my weekly CVS trip. I didn't need much, though my husband had a list that included a couple of semi-pricey items. I had a coupon for $1.00 off 2 Kellogg's cereals & CVS had them on sale $2/5; Oust spray $1.50 off coupon (printed from on-line) - and also on sale. I got a couple of other items that were on sale but no other coupons. I did use $5.00 in ECB's from my last trip AND got a nice surprise: $15.00 in Extra Care Bucks for my participation in the CVS advisory panel (in other words, I took 2 surveys they asked me to take!) printed off to use on my next trip.
We also picked up our March Angel Food order. Our order included "shelf stable" milk - in the hermetically sealed container that lasts 'forever,' boxed macaroni and cheese and 2 cans of Marie Calendar soup which we donated this morning to our local food pantry. It isn't that we didn't want it, but they were all non-perishable items we felt the food bank could use.
I still need to call a couple of charities about cleaning and personal hygiene items, especially since my "shelf" is getting kind of full, even after my daughter got some shampoo and other items last time she visited. We may need to set up a bin in the garage soon so we don't end up with stuff everywhere in the house.
I've decided to keep track of the dollar value of items we get for free (or make money on ) that we donate to charity, not to brag, but to let others realize how much good they can do, even if they don't have a lot of extra cash or other resources. I'll provide updates periodically, and will probably even include the charities to which we donate.
March has been a busy month for us on several fronts and it looks like April is already revving up to high gear! Life is full. God is good. We are truly blessed.
Thanks for sharing in my frugal adventures!
