One of my all time one hit wonders by Zager and Evans, an oldy, moldy with words that give pause for thought.
In the year 2525
If man is still alive.
If woman can survive, they may find.
In the year 3535
Ain't gonna need to tell the truth, tell no lies.
Everything you think, do and say, is in the pill you took today.
In the year 4545
Ain't gonna need your teeth, won't need your eyes.
You won't find a thing to chew.
Nobody's gonna look at you.
In the year 5555
Your arms hanging limp at your sides.
Your legs got nothing to do.
Some machine doing that for you.
In the year 6565
Ain't gonna need no husband, won't need no wife.
You'll pick your son, pick your daughter too.
From the bottom of a long glass tube. Whoa-oh
In the year 7510
If God's a-comin, he oughta make it by then.
Maybe he'll look around himself and say.
Guess it's time for the judgment day.
In the year 8510
God is gonna shake his mighty head.
He'll either say.I'm pleased where man has been.
Or tear it down and start again. Whoa-oh
In the year 9595
I'm kinda wonderin if man is gonna be alive.
He's taken everything this old Earth can give.
And he ain't put back nothing. Whoa-oh
Now it's been ten thousand years
Man has cried a billion tears.
For what he never knew,
now man's reign is through.
But through eternal night.
The twinkling of starlight.
So very far away.
Maybe it's only yesterday.
In the year 2525
If man is still alive.
If woman can survive, they may find.
In the year 3535 {fade}

How far have we really come?
Do you believe that we will even make it to the year 2525?
Lets discuss.

Gains in medicine have resulted in longevity in life and thus people are living longer and people continue to have children at the same rate as before and we are suffering from over explosion in populations, over indulgence in everything it seems causing problems everywhere we look, far too many scenarios to talk about at this juncture for me at least.
I personally treat each day as if it were the day but who knows?
Becoming a philosophy major in college I finally grew to understand the true message of the song and still like it a lot.
I know all of the jabber about from ashes to ashes stuff. I'm a Christian and I know all about it but I wanted some philosophical output from some here on this thread and quite frankly it doesn't appear that anyone is up to the task.
But for those people who have children now and whose children are having children, I often think of what the future has in store for them. Especially at times like this with the war raging on with no end in sight, the elections coming up and all of the derisiveness amongst us.
I personally don't see our world making it that far.
Lyla l. ..........Messiah means annointed one.
as for the age, is it the last....NO, we are in stage two or maybe stage three of a three part stage, it"s still the beginning of the end of the old age...it"s supposed to be this way. by the year 3000 our age will be looked upon as the beginning of the computer age...but still very barbaric, very un-civilized. most everything we know will be gone completly or unrecognizable. those freedoms and fears that we cling to so desprately will be gone. and the only ones who would be scared or paranoid to exist in that age will be us in this age. will it be a paradise??? NO, but it will be far better than it is now.
I would like to talk about this sometime in further detail if I might? I would really be interested in hearing your perspective on it.
I would definately just take it one day at a time as theres just no other way to live otherwise.
I will continue to post to your group Angela!!

i believe we are growing, evolving, changing. every change comes with pain, this right here right now is ours.
the idea that keeps coming back in my head is one day we will create new life.....A.I., and that one day we shall pass from this realm, and a new world will be born. at first they will be just like insects, but over time they will grow and change and just like us become something more than what they were in the beginning.
think about Arthur C. Clarkes beginning to his book 2001, or something along the lines of the end of Childhood"s End.
I don't think the our world will exist as it is now. I think that it will eventually get blown up by one of those atomic bombs that we keep building. I am no doomsday sayer by any sense of the imagination but I say it as I see it and feel it.
All kidding aside then you believe that there will be a new beginning of sorts?

...still a great song though:)
I would be excited if He wanted to start end things, but my kids wanted to grow up and have children first. Now their kids want to grow up and have children first. I guess some generation; some time; is going to have to be the last :)
