I am sitting here so frustrated I just want to cry right now. You see ... I bought a dishwasher for my house. The cost of it was thrown into my mortgage for me. While it was being shipped or the volunteers were installing it .. it got dropped and damaged. The workers installed it anyhow hoping it would still work. I don't blame them for it being damaged .. or for them still installing it. I know they thought it was donated and they thought they had to work with it.
It did not work at all. The tub to it is cracked all the way across so even if it did it would leak. However, something in the door is damaged so the actual dishwasher will not work.
I called habitat .. who ended up calling whirlpool. Whirlpool sent out a repairman from a repair service in my local area. First the guy had my address wrong so instead of calling for help he just didn't show up. The next time he claims he showed up and no one answered the door. I would not know if he is telling the truth or not because I was at work. The next time the guy comes out says that the dishwasher has obviously been damaged .. like duh tell me something I didn't already know. He said he was going to order the parts. So he claims he ordered the parts. This was weeks ago. Now the parts were supposed to be here last week and were no where to be seen. So they tried to track them down. The main part is on back order and the other two are somehow sitting hours away in grand rapids? How they got Flint and Grand Rapids confused I do not know. Then today the repairman drops it on me that the work IS NOT COVERED under the warranty due to the fact the dishwasher was damaged. Umm .. so guess who is supposed to be paying these repairman and paying for the parts? You guessed it me!! I am so mad right now. It would have been .. and still would be cheaper for me to buy another one versus try to pay the repairman and pay for the parts. I can't afford either right now though so I guess I just wasted $350 or so that is wrapped into my mortgage for the dishwasher.
What a waste of time, and money, and so frustrating ......

That really sucks.
I feel your pain. In the past week we've had a microwave stop working AND our central heating system bit the dust. You don't even want to KNOW how much a new heater costs.
I have not been leaning on Habitat because I don't see it as their fault. I wonder if it was damaged BEFORE the guys even opened the box. I saw the outside box and it looked ok but I was not there when it got installed.
I figure I would rather have to pay for it then say anything to any of the guys who worked on the house. They are truly awesome guys and do the volunteering out of the goodness of their hearts .. accidents happen.
Its just frustrating .. the whole scenerio!
