"Integrity for Rent"

I was driving across town yesterday and saw this sign on a street corner. 

I think it was for a rental house but the phrase on the sign said this,

'Integrity for Rent.'

Nothing else. 

No explanations or picture of a house, not even an arrow pointing down the street.

That really got me wondering why on earth people would need to rent integrity?

Don't most people have some of their own that they use each day as they live and work and interact with people?

I can't imagine not having integrity and I don't think I know anyone who doesn't have any.

 
But wait a minute, maybe rental integrity is for politicians?  You know, you either don't have any or very little so you rent it to use while you are campaigning.  You've got to appeal to the general public as a nice person they can rely on.  You only want to rent it so that you can go back to your normal state sans integrity after you are elected.

Don't they all do whatever they want no matter what they said they'd do while they were campaigning?

 
I mean after all, why would they want to buy the product and have to live with it forever when they could just rent it for a short time and then stop paying for it when they didn't want it anymore?


"Integrity for rent."

Now I am picturing all kinds of signs:

"Honesty for Rent"

"Talent for Rent"

"Ability to balance your check book for rent"

Or how about:

"Parenting skills for rent"?


If the rentals are done over the internet the list of virtues and skills to rent could be unending!

This could be the beginnings of a whole new industry!

Kindness.

Gentleness.

Courage.

Trustworthiness.
