This book is described as the history of the 1908 season and the people who were involved in it. To some extent, that is true. But what is doesn't say is that the author gives you a lot of the history leading up to the 1908 baseball season (starting from the beginning of baseball!). I was absolutely amazed by all of the information that is included from the rules at the time, the players and what they were like, and what life was like at the time. This book is not what you would normally think of when you think of a baseball book. It is a history book that involves baseball. There are even pictures included so you can put faces to names to make them more real.
Everything in this book is well written and researched as much as I have ever seen. I am very impressed with everything about this book! If you are a fan of history and don't mind that it is about baseball, then you would love it! Or, if you are a baseball fan, you will love all of the history, about players and how things have definitely changed over the years. All in all, this is a great book for anyone who loves to read!

And as for you, Lawrence J, I'd be interested in hearing what you say about it on your show -- and maybe defending myself!
