The Movie Horton Hears A Who came out not long ago and IHOP has a small line of Dr. Seuss food that comes is in fun colors and has kid appeal. I had planned to take my family there as a fun treat but I started thinking about our budget and what a crunch it would be if I took all five of us out to eat to IHOP. That is money that could be used for a different fun event or to pay a bill. So I put on my thinking cap and realized that the Who-Cakes are quite easy to make at home and cost quite a bit less then if we had went out and enjoyed them.
When I make food like this, I try to do it as quickly as I can because I have three very lively boys that often bicker amongst themselves and my youngest son is famous for getting into anything and everything in one second. I took a shortcut and used pancake mix instead of making it all by scratch.
To make your own Who-Cakes, you will need:
Pancake mix (or make them from scratch)
2 Gogurts per pancake (try for two different colors)

Sprinkles
1 Lollipop per creation
Make your batter
Poor it on the pan
Flip your pancake. This is where I realized that my pancakes were not going to look as good as IHOP's. But after they're decorated, you won't really be able to tell what they looked like.
You need to make different size pancakes. A large one for the bottom and make the rest of them a little smaller then the one they're sitting on top of. Do this with however many pancakes you want.
Start stacking your pancakes

Grab a Gogurt and get to work:

Grab another gogurt and a lollipop:

Put on the sprinkles:

I made a smaller version for my middle son because he doesn't eat that much:

The kids enjoyed them:

Even my youngest son enjoyed his little pile of who-cakes
Can I eat now Mom?
Digging in

Halfway done
This sucker is really good.
None of the kids ate it all, just like I knew they wouldn't. It wasn't because they didn't like it, they did. They wouldn't have eaten it all if we had gone out to eat either and this way, I didn't mind if they didn't eat all their food at home. I had regular ol' pancakes. These were more to the kids liking them mine, although I did have a taste of their Who-Cakes.
The Who-Cake Graveyard...
I took my middle son to see Horton Hears A Who when my oldest son was at my grandparents. It is a really cute movie.

Great photo essay!
(I also had a pretty long wait the last time I went to IHOP, which I did only because they were right next to the Monroe Muffler holding my car hostage. Luckily (? or not), I got back to Monroe with PLENTY of time to kill before my car was ready even with the slow IHOP service. ).
Who cake looks pretty cute!
My kids will go crazy about these. They are a pretty healthy breakfast too. I already have the pancake mix and the go-gurts also! Now just need to get some sprinkles! I will probably have to skip the suckers. My kids will eat the suckers and not the pancakes! LOL!!
Maybe I'll try these at home since Gideon was sidetracked by the chicken basket when we went there. :P
This is featured, by the way!
I wish I could give more than a *10*, you idea, this article & those cute photo's deserve it!
Thanks for posting this to All Photo Essays Here. I'm going to feature it in the group.
I had regular pancakes, no yogurt on mine! lol. I did try the kids whocakes. I'm glad they liked it but it won't be something I make often.
