One of my favorite memories as a child was decorating easter eggs. We would drop them in cups filled with dye, keep checking on them to see if the color was just right. Sometimes we would use a white wax crayon to write on the wite egg first, it was tricky because we could not see what we were writing. Oh what a wonderful surprise after we dipped the egg into the dye cup our writing was revealed. We would embelish the eggs with stickers. Then there were some times that we had a fancy wrap that we would slip around the egg, and then Mom would dip it into boiling water, and it would shrink tightly around the egg. This was such a fun time with mom, my sister and I.
This year I decorated eggs with the children, and we had sooo much fun. The dye kit we used made a fancy swirlly pattern. I was very impressed with how the eggs came out and of course we all had fun.

We carefully drip the dye atop the water.

A blank canvas, awaits the children.

Trying to decide which colors to drip drop into the bowl of water
The children look so serious with concentration on their face.

We ended up with a bakers dozen of the most beautiful easter eggs I have ever seen.

We will be having egg salad sandwiches for a week!! One thing I remember as a child, I always wished there was more eggs to dye. A dozen just didn't seem like enough.
This year the Easter Bunny brought the Easter outfits! This will be a new tradition in our home. I have never seen my children dress so quickly. We made it to the 7:30 am mass!!
What are your Easter traditions, or favorite childhood memories of Easter?
