Four of the last six Presidents have been left-handed: Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton.
Barack Obama and John McCain are left-handed. Hillary Clinton is right-handed.
Name the last two Presidents who many consider to have been poor Presidents.
(Hint: The two right handed Presidents were Jimmy Carter and George W. Bush)
Hmmm.....

Disclaimer: For the record, I also have a right hand.
It makes our brains just a little differnt at the processing level. Also scissors suck!
Hilary tried to be left handed but she forgot which one it was.
Here's another oddity - I do crossword puzzles, and if I get stuck right handed, often switching to my left hand will help me get the answers!
I knew that Washington experience was good for something. ;-)
Sometimes I win, sometimes I win.
1) Voting same old same old gives us...same old same old. You gotta vote different if you want different.
2) Basic logic: we pump more CO2 (and other things) into the air, we tear down a lot of trees = something's gotta give. It's giving. Add to that the fact that the Chinese will soon reach the amount of resource use of the United States x 5 times the population = uh oh.
3) Red Sox: Schilling might become like Clemens...too hard headed to retire.
4) Patriots: Well, we're not talking about them right now...after the fiasco called the Super Bowl.
How's that?
Assuming I haven't completely missed the point (something I've been known to do), the answer is that we don't sacrifice while China (and India and Europe, etc.) go about their merry way killing the environment; rather we show some leadership to address the situation on an international front. This is not something that the US or China or Europe or Curacao can resolve individually. It is something that will take a concerted global effort.
China's economy is growing at a rate that far outpaces that of the US even during our fastest expansion period. We've been used to using 8 times the resources per capita of the rest of the world, but now China is expanding the number of cars they put on the roads at such a huge rate that they quickly will surpass us in resource use. Before they reach that point though the world resources would have been tapped beyond capacity (based on current usage and the population of China). And that's not even counting India and elsewhere.
For our own self-interest, and that of the world, the US really needs to step up to the plate and retake a leadership role in these issues. We have to be able to work with (not against) the rest of the world, despite the fact that we don't agree on everything. But we do have one common interest - we all have to live on this planet, so if we trash it, we all go down.
My 2 cents. :)
But just because some people predict irrationally, doesn't mean we should ignore rational observance of science. If science were perfect, this would be a lot easier.
Do I win a prize?

Given our distractions elsewhere on the planet, it's probably a good thing that Taiwan and China aren't starting to shoot at each other.
Thanks for the tete-a-tete Phyllis. Very enjoyable.
"Silent opening of can o' worms?"
I must admit that I don't really know that much about the history of Tibet, but from what I do know I'm pretty confident that we don't have a clear enough picture to form educated opinions. Perhaps with the current turmoil there someone will step up and provide some facts so we can make informed opinions.
If you want to know more about Tibet, please read "In Exile from the Land of Snows" , which I consider the best book on the history of Tibet, and the Dalai Lama.
