Another I hate Wal-mart

Wednesday, I went to Wal-mart, my first mistake.
I paid for groceries, and a small aquarium.  My groceries were bagged and not the aquarium.  The jerk at the door asks to see my receipt being the aquarium wasn't bagged.  From now on, I insist on a bag, tag, or escort out of the crappy store.  I hate that store, but in my town, it's the only place to shop that's close.  The next nearest shopping is thirteen miles away.  I hate Wal-mart.  Oh, did I say that already.  I will be writing a letter of complaint.

It is the same way in mya rea Carol. WalMart is about the only grocery shopping option I have. I hate them so much.

Yes do write a complaint. Make sure to state that walmart employees keep confronting you on your way out of the store. I'm sure that will get some adverse reaction as I've been told by someone that works at Walmart that it is against their employee policy to confront customers whether suspected of legal or illegal purchases. Confrontation is not in their policy as far as I am to understand, under any circumstances.

I actually like wal-mart but I have slowly started to switch to more of a target person.

I like Target. The town 13 miles away is getting a new Super Target. I can't wait.

I always have my receipt in hand in case they ask me for it, no matter what store I am in. Never know when that alarm will go off. I use to set off the alarm at Rite Aid by us when i walked in the door.

walmart, and sam's club (same corporation) all check your purchases when you leave so that they can attempt to stop theft. supposedly. now they are going so far as to set a device in their shopping carts that disable the wheels once you get out of the parking lot.

i went to a super target in colorado. i want one here! but then again, i'd also like a lot of things here that i'm never going to see. silly small town.

Ugg, all we have is WalMart. The nearest Target is at least 60 miles away, so I'm stuck there.

My WalMart is too far away and I have a Target next door - lucky me.

But I'm always used to being suspected like that. There's SO MUCH shoplifting going on and it doesn't help in keeping prices cheap. I never mind proving I'm innocent (because I am). You shouldn't take things like that to heart.

My K-Mart up the street used to have someone at the door checking EVERYONE'S bag and receipt. They must have suffered some serious theft to go to that extreme.

The thing I hate is that they just leave your bags on that circular thing and I've walked out of the store without all of my purchases several times. It seems so lazy to me that they don't give you the things you bought and instead just leave them for you to figure out.

I won't shop at a store that treats me like a criminal. Not one of the stores I shop at here in town treat me that way !!! It seems to me the cost of hiring someone to check up on you would be pretty high

I do most all of my shopping at Target. Our Wal-mart around here is always so crowded I can't stand going there.

I'm fortunate not to have a problem with the Wal-Mart in my area. my biggest complaint is that the check out lines are always long. Now I take one of the riding carts because by the time I get to the check out I'm too tired to stand there any more and usually am about eready to collapse. The cart has solved that problem for me. Now I just have to be careful not to hit anyone! LOL

I hate walmart too.We went for the first time in almost a year and they didn't even have distinct aisles anymore! They claim on there commercials they have more lines open but they didn't and lines were backing up like crazy. I feel trashy going to that store because the one around here seems to draw some trashy people.We usually go to the one further away and decided not to that day. The one time before that some kid almost ran into my cart and his huge father was staring me down, and making comments under his breathe about me.I just wish people would watch their kids and pay attention themselves.

Oh, and the sad part is I can go to our grocery store and get items cheaper then walmart. Rolling back prices....ha what a joke. It's sad when a store that can be considered over priced has better prices then ghettomart.

I'm glad that there is a Kmart and Target store closer to me than Walmart. And if I can't find what I need there and have to drive about 8 miles to the mall area, I can always go to Meijer first.

I prefer target as well. But target is so far away from where I live.

I always keep my reciept in hand as well when walking out of wal-mart. I have never been stopped. But my neighbor has. But I do hate the long lines thery have. They never have enough cashiers open.

I refuse to patronize wal-mart. Their predatory and unethical business practices will continue as long as they make money. The money you save today at Wal-mart will come back to bite everyone in the butt later, when they manage to put competitors out of business and their employees out of jobs.

There has been speculation that the more difficult financial times will actually make FEWER people shop at Wal-mart because of the gas to get there. Ain't it ironic?

I wrote to Wally World and told them about my blog and the incident. They said they get back to me in three business days. Look for the answer on Gather. I do so hate them, but the lady at corporate was very nice.

You actually don't have to show them the receipt....I just keep walking. There is nothing they can do about it. It's considered unlawful detainment if they stop you...and basically that's accusing you of stealing...then you can sue.

He had the nerve to simply ask you a question while you were leaving!!!

The nerve!!

I mean really, people never steal from Wal-Mart and they have no right to try and stop theft!!!!

And more impotantly, I agree iwth Janet, asking you a question is like..."It's considered unlawful detainment if they stop you"

I have a few options...thank goodness. It takes me longer to find a parking place than to get what i need in Wal-mart. And the lines are forever long it seems. I avoid the store as much as possible. Ocassionally to do some major shopping I may go there. As for target, we don't have any around here Im aware of, which is ok with me, I have never been overly fond of the store anyway.

one must relize that shoplifting is horrible,, (not saying you do this)
in my husband store an avg of 100,000 a week is shoplifted,, and they dont have too many door personal there,,
yet he didnt say hey you are steeling this give me recipt did he,, it is part of htier policy,,
and compare price to target and walmart,, I bet that the reason they are lower is because of the lost merchandize is lower compare to target,,,

I remeber back when they still had lay away,
we had put all the kids things for school on layaway. It was 3 boxes full of stuff.
We were stopped at the door and the door person went thru all of it before we could leave. matched everything to the reciept!!
I was so embarrased, we had bought our daughter some bras that year..lol
I shop at Target:)

I've seen a lot of people asked for receipts for unbagged items. Most people just walk up to the door checker and show the receipt automatically. It's a pain, but I think the long lines are worse. Why have 30 cashout booths and 3 open?
