Might wanna think before cussing the telemarketer...

I just read a post about someone getting harassing calls...  not from telemarketers, but it made me think about this...

Bear in mind, this was several years ago, and I wouldn't do such a thing now! lol

Ok, I had gone thru a nasty divorce, after staying home during the entire marriage to take care of the kids.  He didn't want me to work, 'cause he didn't want me out of the house...  but that's another story altogether.  BUT...  when he left, he refused to pay any child support.  I had three kids to support, so I took the first job I could get, which was telemarketing...  oh joy...  not!

So, these were the days when we still went down the list and called each number individually, rather than the large companies with automatic computer dialers.  I had had a particularly rough night, and I got a rather obnoxious lady on the phone.  I was always completely polite and professional in doing my job, and we were selling legitimate services, no telemarketing scams.

Well, this lady got absolutely horrible on the phone with me.  She was cussing me, yelling, just being a horrid old witch.  I tried, politely, to explain to her that I was doing a job to support my children, and she made a comment that I was a bad mother, since I was a telemarketer.  That was it for me...  I can take rudeness, and still remain polite and smiling...  I was a customer service dream for the companies I worked for.  This lady, however, just pushed me to far.

Rather than responding rudely to the lady, returning her cursing and insults, I simply apologized for taking up her time and politely got off the phone.  Two minutes later, every telemarketer in the building had this lady's name and phone number.  For the next week, she was bombarded with telephone calls from her favorite telemarketing company!

Might wanna think about that next time you're tempted to get rude with the telemarketer "P
