With last night's departure of Amanda Overmyer, American Idol has now become not the platform for undiscovered talent but more of a platform for repackaged failed musicians and would be T.V. celebrities and models.
I predict the winner will be failed singer Carly Smithson,a.k.a.. Carly Hennessy, a former MCA Records recording artist who was dropped after her 2001 debut album only sold 300 copies. Carly's strong ties to American Idol, the shows producers and a certain judge is proof that her stint on AI is nothing but some music executive's plan to showcase and reintroduce Smithson to the attention challenged American public.
The reason behinds this season's ringer packed Idol is hidden among the trade secret that certain American Idol producers own the recording companies who produce all the albums for Idol alums. By bringing seasoned musicians and singers the music executives behind Idol can guarantee themselves a head start in cashing in the tone deaf American public that swallows anything they are fed, whether it is good or not.
So the fix is in and now we only have the attempts of recording companies re-launching their failed and has been recording stars to look forward to, mixed in with a few episodes of make believe competition. Perhaps the shows producers should changed the title of the program to "American Idol, A Second Chance, For Failed Pop Stars".
Again, hear me loud and clear. I predict the winner will be failed singer Carly Smithson,a.k.a.. Carly Hennessy. How else will MCA Records recoup the 2.4 million the company spent the failed album by Carly? .
The following are five more of the final ten that have had professional experience and some sort of success in the music and entertainment world. That makes six out of ten finalists that are anything but undiscovered talent.
American Idol, the show for rediscovered talent. American Idol, the show to re-launch a failed career. American Idol a music executives best promotional tool.
Michael Johns Michael Johns former singer for an Australian band called The Rising which had a record deal with Maverick
Kristy Lee Cook Kristy Lee Cook had a recording contract with Arista Nashville and counts Leann Rimes former management team as her own.
Syesha Mercadoubay Syesha Mercado who was a cast member on the failed television show "The One: The Making of a Music Star".
Brooke White Brooke White: She opened for Phil Vassar on one of his recent tours.
David Archuleta David Archuleta: He won Star Search when he was 12 and has sung with Kelly Clarkson.

Go Carly! I hope my San Diego girl wins.
Okay, there is some merit to your claims and Randy Jacson, dog, is all over Carly like you know what on you know what. Still, Carly is talent. Michael is talent. Brook, David, and Syesha are talents.
What the hell is "undiscovered?" Undescovered by the American public is the way I look at it. We could watch (or like I did, NOT watch) weeks and weeks of kareokee singers that sound TERRIBLE, or we could have semi-ringers who have a chance at making decent live music for a couple hours.
I'll take the latter. Carly was nothing more than a waitress before Jan. That I can attest to. Being from San Diego, I've been to that bar and seen her. So what if she sang 5 years ago? So what if 5 years ago David Archuleta won a kiddy contest?
I really don't see your point.
So what you're saying that in an attempt to sell records, that the music industry bombed Carly's music, banishing her to the life of a bartender and wife of a tatoo artist for 5 years so that she could get older and heavier....only to "bring her back" to recoup money they lost on her 5 years ago when they couldn't sell her records.
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.
Dude, you've got yourself so backwards in your thinking that it's laughable. If ANYTHING, MCA would NOT want her to win because she didn't have "that thing" back then and they'd fear she still wouldn't have it now....5 years older and several pounds heavier!
You think they WON'T make money on the American Idol winner???? Seriously? You think they don't understand the principle of chasing good money after bad? Seriously?
If you'd ever sold anything larger than a pair of shoes or bag of potato chips, you'd get that. What you're saying is laced with conspiracy theories that have no logical sense!
:-)
Carly is AWESOME! Amanda was good and what she did but the thing is, that's ALL she could do. We need well rounded artists and my top 3 (I believe) certainly are.
My top 3 picks are (in no particular order) Carly Smithson, David Cook and Jason Castro.
Yippeeee!
The music industry has changed a lot, and AI is a perfect way to promote and relaunch a particuliar singer without spending any money on them. Once the fix is in, the machine begins to move and the dumb public is easily fooled into believing the hype about a certain artist.
If you know the music industry, you have to know that it's ridiculous to promote the theory this is a conspiracy to let her get old and fat in order to sell records....if anything, they maybe were responsible for her not getting her visa to compete last time! LOL
BTW, have you noticed her plumping up? A few weeks ago I suggested she might be preggers. I've seen nothing to negate those feelings and more to think maybe I'm right. Then again, I only picked 7 of the top 10 when there were still 50 contestents....
Your points are well taken on her connection to Randy Jackson and his enthusiasm for her is interesting. Simon even called him out on it early in the competition calling her "one of the more hyped
Still, others from AI have had contracts...supposedly even Kelly Clarkson. If you think that someone who wins AI is going to be COMPLETELY undiscovered, then you're just being silly. Most of these kids have been singing since they've been 4 years old. Most are extremely talented and SOMEONE at SOME LEVEL is going to have "discovered" them. To suggest otherwise means that these people would have never have performed publicly before, which would mean they'd not be qualified to even be ON AI. It's faulty and circular logic that just doesn't make sense.
Besides, the rules have remained the same since season one....
MANY artists on American Idol have had record contracts. The first season you couldn't have a current music agent tied to a record label or a current record contract. I know a couple people who were cut because of that. The rules were changed.
Record labels started encouraging artists to try out. It is the best way to get free publicity.
http://www.mcarecords.com/artistMain.asp?artistid=186 Carly Hennessy is her maiden name. There will be a lot of suspicion swirling around Randy's head on whether or not he had pulled some strings behind the scenes in order for Carly to win.
