I spent most of today researching my families dental plan, with great disappointment. The dental insurance offered by my husband's employer covers 10% of most dental work. Not near enough for our family.
With the internet at my fingertips, I decided to research a few of the "discount" dental plans I had heard about.
I found a few of these programs online for a large yearly fee. Then,
I finally found a free dental discount program I can use. (one that provides better coverage than our so called dental insurance)
I decided I should share the information here for those who may need it.
Here are a few scary health care facts, with more information about the discount programs I mentioned.
The cost of health care is unreachable for many people.
The underinsured are more likely to face deductibles of $500 or more.
Nearly one-half paid premiums that amounted to 5 % or more of their total annual income.
After searching the internet for many options I wanted to share one plan for those who may need it.
By joining at this website you obtain certain benefits or discounts right away.
By inviting a friend you get access to discounts through several discount programs.
You can use these discounts to save yourself money on dental, vision and doctor visits.
The website I found United Project, offers discount programs to members. It is free to join. Any of the blue highlighted words are links that will take you there.
United Project was founded by a group of ordinary folks who were searching for ways to save on their sky-high medical bills.
A 2005 report "Seeing Red: Americans Driven into Debt by Medical Bills", by Commonwealth Fund, states two out of five adults ages 19 and older in the United States, an estimated 77 million adults, struggle with their medical bills and have recent or accrued medical debt, or both.
According to the US Census Bureau 2005 Report, there were 46.6 million people in the U.S. without any healthcare insurance coverage. Uninsured adults are most likely to go without needed medical care longer and to incur medical debt. Society's most vulnerable, including lower-income people, children, minority Americans, and elderly are hit especially hard.
The Health Affairs 2005 study "Insured But Not Protected: How Many Adults Are Underinsured?" in addition to over 40 million uninsured, another 16 million adults went underinsured in 2003. Which means their insurance did not adequately protect them against catastrophic health care expenses. Inadequate coverage, just like no coverage at all, creates obstacles to care and other financial and emotional burdens.
I wanted to share this information on United Project.
From the website:
"Our mission is to provide safe and secure environment for anyone wishing to get access to better healthcare options, give and receive support, and help affect positive social change.
We at United Project don't have all the answers on how to fix the broken healthcare system - but we hope to make a difference by providing resources, by raising awareness and by helping build a strong and united community to carry on the message."
Healthcare benefits and discounts are not insurance and not intended as a substitute for health insurance.
