Today, dear Hans Wolf at DeCut got after my hair. It was starting to look a bit Loretta Lynnish - I love Loretta - love her voice - I just don't need her hair. I got my locks wacked off. I loved having my hair shampooed, and my scalp massaged. It put me into a trance. Then, Hans, said ok what do you want? I said, a miracle. He said, you have it. I said, Oh no, honey, not short. I need this hair for the sake of femininity. I feel naked in short hair. Hans spent an hour on my hair. He said I had great hair. That comes from Ma and Pa. He loved the color. That comes from Mother Nature.
When I got home, I asked the husband to take a picture of me. I am a wash and wear type of person and so once I wash it, it won't look this good. How do you feel about your hair? Tell me about it. Thank you. Salud.

I got one bit of advice I have alway held to: my girlfriend Lyd, a licensed hairdresser told me to never colour it. She says that would cause it to grey faster. Okay; enough said. I don't colour it. I don't have much grey -- maybe 4 or 5 strands, if that.
THAT is the one thing I like about my hair -- NO GREY! :=)
My hair is to the middle of my back. Aside from bangs (I hate my forehead), it's a straight cut with the sides angled towards my face, similar to yours. You can see it in my Gather icon, lol.
I don't color treat or perm my hair. I too get a lot of natural highlights from spending time outdoors. My only complaint is that while I have a lot of hair, it's fine, and tends to frizz in the humid South. I had short hair beofre and hated it. So I don't plan on ever getting my hair cut shorter than shoulder length until I am too old to care.
My hair is naturally red and very wavy. It is waist length and my husband adores it. I have always wanted to be daring and change my hair color but alas I have never had the nerve.
My hair is naturally VERY curly (I call it nappy) because I'm half Sicilian and it's dark brown with red highlights. It's turning silver very quickly and I'm to a point where I think I might just let it go!
I'm only 32 but I'd love to have silver hair, actually.
OK, MY hair...I get my highlighted about every 6 weeks - tend to have it a shade lighter in the spring/summer. Medium thickness, although I've lost a bunch of that thickness over the past 3 years, and I'm not at all happy with that. I go between keeping it straight because it's easy, and I don't have to worry about the weather, and other times I'll set it or blow it dry and spray the living daylights out of it in order to produce: "HELMET HAIR". If I do not have HELMET HAIR when it is set, it goes right back to poker straight - and it's a major pain in the pitootie to get it to have any curl - and it's not a nice straight, either. I have frizzy ends (not split, just frizzy ugly), so in order to wear it even straight, I have to use a flattening iron on it.
Hair is a giant pain in the rear for me! I like to look nice, but I can't stand all the time it takes to do so! Ugh!
Those silvery streaks are HIS crown for you~You are gorgeous!
I see your own Mama in this portrait today~ :)
I like the way HE is adding silvery streaks to mine, too~Still trying to figure the cut out for me... :)
Always wonderful to stop in to visit~Come on down to Florida soon!
In HIS love, light, and blessings~Mama T
I go to the hairdresser every 8 weeks without fail. I have my appointments set up a year in advance. I try to do something drastically different with it every 6 months or so, but I'm running out of ideas as I age. Not everything is appropriate for a woman of my vintage.
I think I can probably go another 10 years before I have to start letting the real color take over. Even when that happens, I'll probably figure out a way to put a pink highlight in it. ;o)
I wore a perm and colored til sometime around 1998. I saw a hairdresser about every 6-8 weeks to have *something* done - and never left the salon for less than $120. One day I got up and said "to heck with this" and never permed again. I just let it grow and kept the ends trimmed. It is now down to my waist again (I cut off a Locks of Love donation last summer) and my natural highlights are coming back since I am able to get outside more now.
I am often asked if it is hard to take care of. Nope... shoot, I shampoo it, condition the heck out of it, comb it out carefully and rarely blow dry it. I love being able to braid it to get it out of the way, or coil it up and "claw-clip" it in place. It's MUCH eaier to take care of than it was when I was perming and coloring it.
I am wash and wear as well. This is going to sound weird. I don't cut my hair very often and my Mom has done it whenever I happen to be there and she says, "You need a trim...how much?" So I have saved tons of money. Now however, her eyesight is a problem, so I had to find a place to have it evened out (she doesn't know I did this) It was very relaxing...I wanted to go back the next day. Yesterday as I was taking the pup out of the back seat of the car someone came to a stop behind me. When I turned he (a stranger) said, "Your hair looks beautiful in the sunlight."...so everyone is so glad to be out and about again...and it made my day.
This is exactly how I feel every time I leave the salon...which isn't nearly often enough! I love your hairstyle! It's beautiful.
My hair was worn very, very long for many years. Since I much prefer a wash and wear style, I've had it short for a few years now. It's thick...VERY thick, and hairdressers are always remarking on how they love working with my hair. The color, however, is getting bad...very, very bad. It's turning completely white on the edges framing my face, and the rest is becoming riddled with gray. I hate the maintenance of color, so don't know what to do. Right now while I'm in FL it's fine. Any sun exposure naturally lightens it all over so the white and gray sort of blend. But next month when I go home.......oh, my!
Well, mine basically looks like my icon.........it is blond (naturally) but with some gray! (My hairdresser is always telling me of the girls who call her wanting to know the shade of my color, - they want to color their hair that shade, - some of these girls happen to be my 'friends' who have never asked me). The sides are coming to one length (couple more trims and it will be one length) and the back is cut up short (kinda stacked)! I love my hairstyle for me, - my hair is very fine and this cut adds so much volume and body, it is really easy to take care, - wash, little mousse, blow dry and go!!! (It will get lighter with summer coming, being outside so much and in the pool it will be almost white by the end of summer)!
Madame Donna C. Well, you're a woman on the go as am I and I don't have time much less have a plug many of the time to blow dry these locks - usually, I look like a hag in a hairclip!
Julie, ringlets - girl, let that go natural - I bet it's beautiful - sometimes Mother Nature knows what's best when it comes to hair and the face...I dyed my hair for over 40 years because of that streak - it was red when I was young - the streak - but anyway, at 13, it was obvious and I hated to be teased - but amazingly I'd have streaks put in it after the dye job!!! Yes, Julie, it does make one feel like a whole new person. I felt great yesterday - it was a good day!
Thank you Sherry. Hans is from Austria. This DeCut is an International one and most of the folks are from different countries so you don't have to suffer the same cut as folks who went to the same beauty school. They do have to take courses at a California school but most of the older ones, like Hans, already know hair very well. A good hairdresser cuts according to hair texture.
Mine grows fast!
Monika -thank you!!
Phyllis: first, I've seen other photos of you and your hair is really perfect for you! You look together girl - very organized - nice hair - and yes, I do like the color - we must have been really blessed to actually like our hair now a little huh!
Kimberly - you may consider a different shampoo - something that really brings out the white - your color sounds pretty! If it bothers you though, there are all kinds of things to do - maybe a clear cellophane just to bring out the silver...I like that you went short though - it suits you very well!
Ann R. Wow - so you're attracting strangers with your hair, my dear - what a flirt! Wear it in a bun from now on! lol...awww it's sweet your mother cut your hair for a while. I can remember with great fondness mama braiding my hair so many years when I was a little girl. I wish I would have appreciated each moment now...thanks for the memory, Ann.
JW - well, it's how you feel about yourself that counts!! Thank you.
Julie - hello my friend - I think I have to catch up on your installments...I appreciate the compliment very much !!
Kellie - your hair sounds gorgeous either way - I know you don't perm or color it anymore but don't you sometimes miss those days of being in a hair salon - that was a royal treat for me - you know I'm half Latina - and that side of me loves the feminine pampering at La Pelukeria! Of course, I guess I could still go in for a blow dry once in a while!!! I miss the local beauty school, great place for a wash and a facial. Wonderful you gave to Locks of Love.
Ina - don't let era or age or any of that rot get in the way you dress or wear your hair - be you - I saw a little ole lady who must have been in her late 80's walking around with hair with green streaks in it - very very short cut - and she was dressed so stylish - reminded me of my own little mamacita whose white hair I streaked! Anyway, when you have a sense of elan, anything works!! Remember that...Tell yourself, I am a beautiful Goddess and you will be!
Lynn A. Oh "good Hair' I know that term!! thank you - but I do think it's all good hair if you go natural! Thanks!!
Ishbel your hair sounds brilliant and beautiful!! I want to see a picture. You can always do a non-peroxide rinse every now and then - something like Clairol Natural Instincts. Thank you!
Miz Teresa - Mama T. I do not know what the summer holds - of course, I have all the family crisis to deal with - along with the house, and my new book, and a historical thing in northern Wisconsin, plus a few other this and thats - I'm hoping to get on with the Welsh crew if they film something in the States - who know -summers is a year away for this ole gal!! Thanks for the invite - you are wonderful - I hope you leave your hair long but I know it will be beautiful any kind of way. Blessings Mama T. .
Nancy - you could do your own hair article with all that you go through - poor thing - I bet if you just let it grow and layer it, you can just let it dry on it's own!! Well, I'll read your comment again and have to comment- you know I love hair...thanks Nancy.
(more later) Thank Yall. Salud.
After opening his first salon, Hans watched his busi-ness expand into 32 locations. During this time, Hans developed "The Framing System" which synthesized all the principles of the hair industry. This system became so successful that it was patented internationally and used throughout Europe and Asia.
I did a google on Hans Wolf and wow - I'm impressed - I knew he was one of the best around here but he's certainly humble about his accomplishments! He seriously spent an hour styling my hair...that was after someone else washed it! I got in at 1:10 and left the salon at 2:30~ Salud.
Funny, my wife got her hair cut yesterday too, only shorter than yours. Of course it looks gorgeous on her too...
I like your long hair, Mariana. It looks wonderful on you!
I got mine cut short a year ago, and it's only now growing long. It was so short my hairdresser shaved the nape of my neck. I was too scared to look at the back of my head in the mirror.
Miz Vicky - bless your heart - I am going there soon!
CC - oh you are so lucky!!!
EM Actually there is something so free about very short hair - its very Euro for one - good for you - and easy to care for and always looks neat!!
More later - just got home - have to do some stuff. Salud.
I'm a wah and wear girl too....just hop out of the shower and off I go with wet hair...even in the winter when a blizzards's afoot!
my hair is brown in a medium 'bob' cut... no pics, sorry... take care...
you are an angel just like this one here... love ya...

Okay, now that I've rambled about that, on to my hair. My hair is currently long and perfectly straight. It's very thick so I use all that sleek shampoo and conditioner so that it's pretty much flat. Otherwise it will look odd from where it's so thick. Color-wise it's brown with natural red highlights in it, which I get from both my dad (he has a red beard) and my mom (she has red in her hair too). I love my hair! When I go out in the sunlight the red shines and makes it look gold or auburn or something. I also use nothing on my hair (like hairspray and mousse and all that) - just shampoo and conditioner - so it's very, very healthy. No split ends, no drying, etc. I am a wash and go girl. I wash it and that's it. I don't dry it. I don't fix it. Honestly, sometimes I don't even brush it. LOLOL
Well, I am eating but ONLY that...nothing else...till I hear from you.
I have blond hair (yes, naturally blond), and have worn it from everything to spiked to as long as my butt, and everywhere in between. For the most part, I am happy with it.
I have naturally blond hair that has a natural wave to it. I am a wash and wear kind of girl too! I don't have the time with 5 kids to spend an hour on my hair!
Shannon, natural blonde hair? Are you Danish? It looks fabulous in that picture!!
Juley - five kids - bless your heart - no but let the kids brush it! I miss the little nieces and their wanting to play hair dresser on my hair...lol...Salud.
My hair is graying at about the same rate as yours. Brown and gray, getting grayer. I had it colored a few times... but as I always say, when I have the time to go sit and have it done, it's because we're slow, and I feel I shouldn't spend the money. When I'm busy, I have the cash, but I don't have the time.
Bottom line, I'm pleased with my natural look -- colorwise. I have always had thin hair, and straight and bodyless as a board. Sadly, it is getting more so with time.
My hair is cut about the same as yours.
I've always been a blonde - except when I decided to try red for a while.
I suspect I'm mousey brown/dishwater blonde now with a lot of gray. I started enhancing my haircolor just after high school.
I've always loved my hair. It is very thick. I've been all over the place with length and styles. I've usually been on the longish side. Until about 6 years ago, it was down to my waist.
Just lately, I've been having bad hair days for the first time in my life. Righ now I blow dry and apply a touch of manipulator. Sometimes I use a curling iron for touch ups.

Mariana...I finally found a place to buy the black strap molasses when I was at my sisters. I bought 2 bottles...but, remind me on how much of this I'm supposed to have each day?
Chicken Love
Actually, I may have submitted it there and if I did and it is off-topic, I am sorry. But I still think it is a good read and might encourage my sister to come here if enough people see it.
It's past time to cut mine....
My hair is straight as a board and black as night. I don't care to wear it straight so I hot roller it most of the time, time permitting. At other times, I french twist it, braid it and pin it up like Heidi, wear it in a chignon, tie it up and add a hair fall to it or just grab it and put a big barrette in it which is virtually hassle free. My hair is so long now that I really want to do something different with it. Cut it about 5 inches and it will still be below my shoulder blades.
I have always hated my hair ... it curls in about a hundred different directions, so no matter what I do with it, it looks like I just got out of bed. If I have it cut really short, I look like a convict, so it's better to leave it long enough to curl and just deal with the fact that I look unkempt all the time.
My hair is there...in fact its everywhere, thick and spiraling out of control thanks to my European ancestors. It used to be Cher hair...long and straight, and now its a couple of inches below my chin and wavy...what happened? Who knows? At least it keeps my brain warm. I often tease my partner that what comes off my head daily on the brush would populate those who are follicley challenged (like him!) Love your new-do, girl!
My hair is easy - wash and wear. I love going to a great hair salon when I can, because a great cut makes all the difference. Over the years I've had every color and style in the book and loved it all.
