Help! My drain is clogged--ideas?

Okay, my kitchen sink drain is clogged.  I tried powdered Drano to no avail.  Any other products I should try, or do you have any home remedies to suggest? 

If I can't get this unstuck, I'm going to have to wash some dishes and bottles in the bathtub!

have you tried some of the liquid stuff? That always seems to work better for me than the powder.

Do you have a plunger? That usually breaks up most clogs.

Pour in baking soda, pour in vinegar - add hot water.


Stand back.

Tabitha, in my experience, a plunger is the best bet. That good old mechanical action seems to do the trick. After breaking up the clog, I'd try one of the chemical solutions to try to preclude or delay a future clog.

My husband says use your toilet plunger! lol He also says that liquid plumber works better than dry drano

Use liquid drano, a plunger...if that doesn't work. Use a product my husband calls a snake. It will grab what ever is stuck in the drain and let the water go down.

Hope you can get it unclogged. I tried everything with mine about a year ago and the landlord had to call in and have it snaked out.

Liquid drano usually works for me, along with a plunger. Never heard of poweder drano. Glad to see the plunger worked for you and someone suggested it. :-)

It says on the Drano NOT to plunge it, but I braved it and did a few years ago...and I wished I had done it earlier and saved myself having to wash dishes on the deck.
