It's supposed to rain today so I walked over and tried to get a few photos of the Egrets and Herons across the street. I had to zoom in on them since they are pretty far away. You can see the two white birds pretty good. I think the smaller one is an egret and the larger one is a great white heron. Then under the bridge with the larger white bird is the blue heron. The larger one is always there and I think she and the blue heron may be a pair. I keep watching for signs of little herons. The quality of photo isn't that good since I am pretty far away. I'd have to walk down a pretty large hill and then about a thousand yards or so to get to the bridge you see. It's pretty marshy and a good pair of boots would probably be needed to make the trip.
I'm pretty sure this is the pair of herons, the blue one is under the bridge.

Here's a photo with all three. You have the white heron which I think may be the female, the blue heron and the the other white bird on the right is the egret.

The blue heron and the egret.

All three.

Here the blue heron is crouched down and you can barely see him. Maybe another day I can get better photos of the blue heron, it is usually always under the bridge though.
While I had the camera out I figured I'd take a few more pictures. When I came home DH was feeding the honkers again. Boy were they noisy today. I didn't take time to remove the tele-converter lens, I just took a few quick shots.
I'm pretty sure this is the male. He keeps his eye on us constantly.

And this would be his mate. The mate for life! No, they haven't changed since yesterday, but what the heck, the camera was out and they stopped by, so why not get another shot. This is why I have so many photos of the same thing, I get obsessed, LOL.

Since I tortured you with the geese photos I'll post some pretty flowers that started blooming this week. Here are some azaleas.
The following plants I am clueless about. They are pretty though.

These are pretty little wild flowers growing in the grass.

A view outback. Yes, I left the lens on so this is the effect I get. I'm starting to like leaving it on for shots like this.
That's it for today. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and get out and enjoy Spring if it has arrived in your area.
All photos taken by me with a Canon PowerShot S3IS using a tele-converter lens (even when it wasn't necessary to use it!)

When I was in Ft. Myers last year I wrote a short story called Elster the Egret.
Totally forgot about it. I'll dig it out and put it in my WIP pile.
Yep, you have lots of rain headed your way. Hopefully your storms are not as severe as ours were.

Thanks for sharing your lovely photos.
I saw lots of these birds in Florida and there are great white herons - they don't breed with the great blue herons.
As far as telling great white herons, great egrets and ibis apart -a mature white ibis has a long curved yellow beak and is smaller than the other 2.
Great white herons have a straight yellow beak and yellow legs. Great white egrets have straight yellow beaks and BLACK legs.
To make things even more complicated, the little blue heron can appear white when a youngster.
Melissa, thanks so much. It's beautiful here and being a lover of all things to do with nature, I am in paradise.
Trudy, thank you for commenting.
Phyllis, thanks so much. It is really beginning to look so pretty here. Now if the wind would die down it would be perfect. We have been trying to get to the zoo and the Brooklawn Gardens.
Bobbi - thanks for the information. I was so confused. I have copied this information so I'll be able to tell them all apart next time.
Renda, thanks so much. Every day I see something exciting. In the morning I have a pair of ducks and a pair of geese waiting right out back for their pellets.
have a wonderful day...
